I'd say take whatever QB is available in the 4th round as a future backup and for some continuity.  But if Rhule gets fired the whole offense will change and whatever the kid learns this season will be thrown out.   So actually not that great of a plan.

Just keep PJ as the backup QB and take our lumps in 2022.  Draft a QB in 2023.

I actually don't think that is an awful plan.  If we were drafting somebody as a starter or the heir-apparent, it would be a wasted, if not counter-productive year assume Rhule gets the axe.  But there is limited damage for a guy who expects to carry a clipboard all year.

And given our QB depth chart heading out o 2021 is basically two guys who have very low expectations about seeing 2023, having somebody that will be around is not a bad idea.  It also means that if things play out, we have two faces on the roster that are not there today.  Given our QB play, that has merit.

We need to trot Darnold back out there behind an improved offensive line. Chances are we're still going to suck, but we will have paid for the right to do so and we can get what we have spent on bad QBing behind us.

I am in total agreement.  Bringing in ANOTHER QB to fix Rhule's ineptness is going to sink this franchise for years to come.  If Rhule ends up trading all our stock this season and next.  The Roster rebuild is stuck until 2024 and this is if we are lucky.

Rhule was all in on Darnold now he should have to ride that wave all the way in.

Update: It's from Florio...

From the article:

The Dolphins would have traded for Watson in 2021 if the 22 lawsuits had been settled. Ultimately only 18 could have been resolved. The Panthers would have traded for Watson with the criminal and civil matters pending. Watson, however, didn’t want to play for the Panthers.
