Even the Texans who have never been a well-ran organization...

Since 2021 (11 seasons) they have:

- 7 winning seasons (same as Panthers lifetime).

- 6 division titles (same as Panthers lifetime).

- 6 playoff appearances (2 more than Panthers and 1 of those was with a losing regular season record 🤦‍♂️, Texans missed 1 year w/ 9-7 record).

- 4 back-to-back winning seasons (Panthers still squarely on zero).

Panthers could use a heapin' helpin' of that...

He'll get 10 games at the most.  More than likely 4 or 6 games.  Ben got 4 games.  Rice got 2 games, and the only reason it ever got made into a season-long thing is because the video got released and the public outrage was too bad of a PR problem for the league.

How bad of a PR problem is it going to be if Watson settles 22 civil cases? Rice got 2 games the Goodell caved to public pressure. If he suspends him 10 games and the pressure starts piling on, how long do you think Watson gets then? Women are a large part of the NFL fanbase. Goodell will do what it takes to protect the league and if that means sacrificing Watson to protect billions in revenue, you can damn sure bet he won't hesitate.

If Watson never gets in trouble again the rest of his career, then he absolutely is worth that trade package.  I think some of ya'll are really underestimating how much a franchise QB changes things.  Even the Texans who have never been a well-ran organization and even behind horrible OLs, he led them to 10+ wins in 2018 and 2019.  And he's 26 with near-elite accuracy, he'll be great for a long, long time.

Now yes the off-the-field issues are a massive concern and a good reason to not be for the deal.  But if we're strictly talking the value of a young QB, the deal itself is fine if you trust and believe Watson will learn from all of this.

Yup.  And he doesn't have "near elite" accuracy, he is maybe the most accurate passer in the entire league.  in 2020 he completed a whopping 70.1% of his passes, for almost 5000 yards.  So its not like hes just checking down to the RB every play.  Dude is an All-World QB.  His lowest completion percentage when starting a full season is 67%.

I still don't get the "plan" as far as Rhule goes if there even is one with this. If Watson comes in, he's either suspended and/or our team has been depleted.

Rhule going to get to use that as an excuse to get another year? If Watson is Tepper's call, then why is Rhule even here at this point? To coach a Watson-less while suspended team and be given an excuse? Going all in on Watson...only to fire our coaching staff as we've left our cupboards bare for the next guy? Nothing this team does makes a damn bit of sense when Tepper or Rhule are involved.

Tepper needs a one-on-one with Watson before this happens. Tell Watson to give Rhule a year and if it doesn't work out, Tepper will hire Watson's guy. Bieniemy, Flores, whoever. That's the only way it works.

There is no way in hell I'm letting a player, any player, pick the next head coach.

That'd be just as bad as letting Marty Hurney do it, arguably worse.

Yea, Watson has elite level accuracy. He’s up there with some of the greats when it comes to that.

We’ll see how it plays out today, but I’d have no issue bringing him in. I’d have no issue giving up the picks expressed by Florio either

The franchise goes as the franchise QB goes, when you have one. Watson or not, it would be a huge mistake not to involve the QB in the process. In fact, that's exactly why Watson got upset with the Texans.

Your approach is not grounded in reason or reality.

Asking them what they think about a coaching hire is fine.

But no team in the league, at least at this point, is dumb enough to let a player actually pick his own head coach.

If other star players want someone different, do you give them a say or just tell them to shut up?

If that coach sucks, do you keep him around because that's who the player wants?

If the player is bad, do you think the coach he picked out is going to be the right guy to tell him?

Once the player retires do you keep the last guy's coach or do you let the next guy pick his head coach?

The whole idea is unforgivably stupid on a dozen different levels.
