Why do people think Loomis has some kinda mythical prowess than nobody else can touch?  The guy we have, Samir, is no damn slouch in the cap department himself.

Because for well over a decade, every year it's always the Saints are going to be in cap hell and there is no way they can make any moves, and yet they do it every year. You don't have to like the man or the organization to realize he's damn good at his job.

Honestly if we don’t land Watson we now have the money for Djax so not all is awful.

Are you joking?

I actually hope the Saints sign him.  He is a middling, average CB with incredible athleticism, subpar size, and a history of getting beat like a drum when teams pick on him.

Or Gilmore which ever you prefer. I mean more that we have some room to play around more than anything.

Until you realize we still don't have a QB a fraction as good as Watson.

You have to laugh at people talking about "gutting" the roster when we're talking about 4-5 picks and 2 players, one of whom (Burns) is due for a big raise. Of the three firsts, you have to figure at least one would be spent on a QB in the next three drafts anyways. So we're talking about a difference of probably 5-6 players. GUTTED.

They've literally kicked the can down the road for over a decade. That's why it's rare they pickup high priced FA's or good-great football players. Didn't they sign AJ Klein to be their starting LB at one point? Would you call that a great pickup? I wouldn't.

Exactly.  The keys to that team, for forever, were Drew Breese and Sean Payton and now both of them are gone.  Having a Hall of Fame QB and a Hall of Fame Head Coach can cover up lots of holes on a team.

Doesn't matter how good the QB is when you can't field a good enough team around him.

Watson is 26 years old.  QBs nowadays don't stop being really good/great until about 35.  We're talking 8-10 years of high-end QB play.  That is plenty of time to build a good team around someone.

Bingo, good sir. A great QB fixed with a great HC. Crazy how that works huh?

    • There is a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between your opinion and the opinions of most former player hockey guys who do this for a living.
    • I can only imagine the **** eating grins on the committee right now. "Oh, Bama didn't deserve it? Oh, Miami didn't deserve it? Suck it, haters!" lol
    • To say that, is gaslighting, because it isn’t true. I mean, maybe one or two people do that but it isn’t the predominant behavior. Even Frank has given him credit. I think particularly the Rams game. A couple of glowing posts.   I know I have. Gotta be honest about it because if you aren’t it undermines what else you say.  But the degree of how far I go with credit, in terms of it being a projection of future performance? Not very far. Acknowledge it, but require more of it. There is a lot of bad play to offset.    I tried to remain passive while the last 9 games (post ankle injury) played out. It is just really hard when the lows won’t go away. I failed. As high as a couple of those highs were, there isn’t enough.    I know it is premature to just say I want to move on, made my decision after 6 of those games ended up pretty much really good or not good enough, but I have had enough of being patient and letting him show the reality either way.  So in my view, he Could still validate himself to a decent degree if he smokes the last three starts. But also in my view I don’t expect to see it. Maybe one more high quality start, would be my expectation. So yes he could still somehow justify having the job next year. If that happened I still wouldn’t have much faith given the last three years and all that has transpired. Again, there is a lot of bad play to offset.
