big Saints / Eagles trade

I am not reading this entire thread but I felt that my voice needs to be heard--even if it is repetitive.

Here is what we know:
The Giants have announced they want to trade #5.

The Saints went after Watson and still want a QB, even though they added Dalton to play behind Crablegs.

The Saints and Giants have probably worked out a deal to trade on draft day if a certain player is available.

The Saints know that the Panthers (6), Falcons (8), and Seahawks (9) are in the market.

It's a lot of moving parts but it's possible.

And if you do the math--what it cost to get the additional first rounder--then what it will cost to move up---that is a hefty price for Willis or Pickett.

Dare i say. Would the panthers consider trading with saints to get those 2 first round picks?? Lol

If the Giants don't deal or the Panthers offer a better deal, they could to leapfrog not only Carolina, but Atlanta and Seattle as well.

seems as logical as anything.

What are the other options?

Moving up for a tackle?  seems expensive

Some have said they have a big need at tackle and WR.  Maybe they keep both picks and try to fill both and win with Winston?  Seems really risky especially this far out.

Maybe they really like one of the QBs they expect to be there in the mid part of round 1.  This way they have 2 picks, they can draft someone like Howell or Ridder and still draft a WR or OT? Also seems risky this far out.

Depends on how you grade them.

IMO it's a move up for Pickett, he actually has quite a few similarities to Brees.  Accurate, good mechanics, can manipulate the short and intermediate game, etc...

That said, it could be for a Tackle...or they just thing the mid portion of the 1st has a lot of firepower.  Didn't they give up two 1's for Armstead 5 years ago?

I had the same thought--I see Pickett as a Saint more than I can see Willis as one--

Was actually thinking about it last night where I thought each could succeed...neither answer was Carolina.  But I think that Willis could do well in Pittsburgh, and Pickett in New Orleans.

The Saints have been pretty good in the draft for a while now, they have a plan for sure.

I agree with you on Pickett. I just hope they aren't intending on stealing him from us. I honestly believe Pickett is going to be great. He has everything he needs to be successful. I've heard he also has the "fire in the belly" like Burrow has. Which I think means he has the Moxy to be a QB in the NFL.

    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
    • Sounds like Veesaar is entering the draft. He could always test the waters and pull out and return but without him our big men look like a serious liability. Better do something in the portal. If they don't do something about this portal madness my days as a college sports fan are probably numbered. This bullshit of having a nearly entirely new team every season is gonna get old fast.
