here’s a very real chance first four picks are defense. And Neal is probably some teams third OT on the draft board. Apparently one team has Cross ranked as the best player in the entire draft. So even then Neal being the third OL off the board isn’t an impossible outcome either.

Jeez, I hope if any of these 3 tackles are around when we pick, I hope we don't try to get all cutesy. Pick the frikkin LT and suck it up this draft! We may have a couple of not great options for QB, but at least they'll have a solid line in front of them.

I agree mostly. I definitely want a T at 6 if Ike or Neal are available. Things get messy if neither are. Assuming they are I'd like to see someone brought in to compete with same (someone cheap). I would not trade for Jimmy or Baker unless they are put in a "clearance bin." If we could get Minshew cheap I'd go that route, or maybe if we are lucky we can get a developmental QB with our 4th round pick. I'm not against brining in a low rent FA. either...just somebody to push Darnold (Walker doesn't seem to be that guy).

I like Minshew better than Baker, Garoppolo, or Darnold. Mainly because we likely get him cheap, and he doesn't have the ego of the other 3. I ASSUME that he knows he's destined to be a career back up, albeit a good career backup.

I mean Baker is going to be cheap, heck maybe cheaper then Minshee after all is said is done.

Jesus, if true, this trainwreck just won't slow down.

I had to assume that Tepper had stripped him of personnel by this point.

I see Ekwonu or Neal falling to us. Leaning Icky.

Stingley and Sauce are buzzing too much, Aiden and Walker are top-5 locks.  DET, HOU and NYJ need defense and in a hurry.  It's really up to JAX and NYG.  I just don't see Neal or Icky at #1, so actually it's possible we're the first team to select an OL.

My current top-6 guess:

1. JAX-Aiden

2. DET-Walker

3. HOU-Stingley

4. NYJ-JJ II

5. NYG-Neal (Plug and play RT w/Thomas at LT)

we get Ekwonu

Then the real fun is the anticipation of us doing something with the little capital we have.  Hoping we don't go crazy and mortgage more future picks for someone that a new regime won't be asking for.  Oh man if Goodell goes up and says we've trade into the first, this board would go bonkers.

BUUUT another kicker is that I could see someone trading up for Sauce.  Seattle, Baltimore, teams really like him.  So in that case, IF both OTs are magically there, do we trade down with let's say SEA (get 41 and 9) at the hopes one is still there or maybe Cross?

SEA gets Sauce at 6, we get an OT at 9, and gain 41.  Then it's up to ATL and NYG on the OL front.

If we have him graded as a top flight OT, especially that can play on the left, don't overthink it, pull the lever, and wrap up that position for 10 years barring injury.

We need to quit messing around with a position that is so incredibly valuable.

Man... if you have to FORCE someone to listen... yikes.

If the final say is his, then it really doesn't matter. If he doesn't want to listen then he won't

100% agree.  Fun to ponder the possibilities, but if Ekwonu is there just take him and accept our fate at QB.

What a lack of vision we are experiencing.  We drafted a CB last year.  A CB....

    • would love it if Vegas were Week 5 (Oct 7).  Just throwing it out there with fingers crossed
    • I believe you are correct. Everyone remembers that record setting drubbing of the Broncos but that was the highlight of their season. They have very good coaching overall and they have a ton of talent. With a better QB they could have knocked off the Chiefs IMO. We aren't even in the conversation of the Dolphins until proven otherwise. We couldn't even get in the end zone against the lowly Chicago Bears. We got shutout and blown out by the CJ Beathard led Jaguars for fugs sake. We can't even compete with bad teams let alone run up the score on them. To me if I'm being completely realistic if I'm the GM and my job is on the line and I feel like Tua is Bryce Young's ceiling I'm drafting QB in the first round next year unless he just magically has a season like Stroud did last year. That's it. I'm genuinely not trying to be abrasive about this it just gets really mind numbing eventually that we keep lowering the bar down down down down down and it's like hey it's fine to have expectations. And if you have a young QB in his prime and he isn't giving you at least prime Jake Delhomme arm talent it's time to keep looking for a QB.
    • Not exactly.  They show that Jones was making the most of the opportunities he had.  I was never a fan of his, but I think that the talent level in NE last year is somehow escaping the massive negative attention it should have received.  That team was terrible - especially the talent and coaching on offense - and everyone was still afraid of the wrath of hoodie. He'll have a chance to restart his career at some point.  He was a middle of the pack QB as a rookie.  Plenty of teams out there would love to make it up to middle of the pack at QB.
