Can't trade past pick 17 because Chargers would take the last LT right in front of us. We would have to go with another position, which would be a mistake.  If any of the three top LT's are available at 6 stay put.

There will likely be a good LT drafted after #17 and there will almost certainly be some LT busts drafted before #17. That's just the way the draft goes.

I like the chances of the top three. We cannot afford to draft Brady Christensen 2.0 with our first pick.

I don’t know who that would be. This draft has a top-3, Penning and then a Cliff. Maybe the Tulsa kid or a Raimann but there’s a big talent gap.

Why would the Chargers take a LT when they got Slater last year?

Anything in the Top 15 should be a blue chip player so I’m good with that. If you go back much farther you are taking a big risk and multiple teams have 20 players or less with a true first round grade on them.

It seems like we hear this every year. Multiple teams having less than 20 players graded as 1st round prospects.

Here's what I'll say about that... from a pure analytical standpoint, when you know there is a constant of 32 1st round picks if you are consistently coming up with far fewer than that number in your analysis then your system sucks.

22, 28, their 2nd, and Jordan Love.

No way you're getting that but considering what they signed Rodgers to, you honestly might get 22, 28, and Love if they actually wanted #6. Based on what I've heard about how Love has looked for them though... I might prefer a mid-rounder.

I agree it’s a weird way to frame it, but if you’re digging into contract value of 1st vs 2nd/3rd rounders + the value you get from trading back to get multiple guys in that 2nd/3rd tier, then I think that’s pretty functional actually

    • All these rankings have more to do with the writers love or hate for a team.  Morgan, IMO, has done a really good job at building this team.  Yeah, there are a couple of whiffs but for the most part he has done quite well drafting and signing free agents.  22 is a bit low but it's a stupid opinion based on how little a writer knows about the Panthers.
    • When I saw that I was thinking the same thing.  If Evero does have a great season and gets hired as a head coach I wouldn't mind see McD as our DC.  If we do poorly as a team, I definitely would want him to be the front runner for HC.
    • But it's not about not upsetting a player under contract, it's about not causing a rift in the locker room. The players love Bryce, whether as a person or a player doesn't matter.  You can't spend a Top 10 pick on a QB and then still start your #1 overall pick in the last year of their contract. That act alone will cause a massive locker room rift/distraction that would be unavoidable.  Some players will question why you "wasted" a Top 10 pick on a QB you're not going to start instead of someone who can help right away.  While others will question why we are keeping Bryce around for the season when it's clear he's not the future guy at that point. It would just make for a bad start to the rookie's career while causing locker room distractions.  Again, I'd bet this has never happened in this league before with any 1st round QB, let alone the #1 overall pick, and there is a reason for it, which is that it would be epically stupid to do. And I used the Vikings as the example as they're the closest I can think of, because again, there isn't a direct comparison as nobody has ever done it because it's that dumb of an idea (no offense lol).
