Great hype vid, but what stands out is how small he is compared to a lot of QBs. That doesn't mean he can't play (Drew Brees seemed to do okay), but it answers my question from night one, "Why did we choose the shortest of the top OTs?"

I think the kid has moxy, something we've had in short supply over the last couple of years.

He's like half an inch shorter than Howell, if that.

He is 1 inch shorter than CJ Stroud and 6 pounds lighter. He is bigger than Bryce Young by 2 inches and about 20 pounds. Those are the top 2 (as of now) in next year’s “loaded” class.

What stands out is the twitch, the quick shoulder fake, change direction and throw. That's a Tom Brady quality. He redirects the coverage away from where he wants to go. That's big league and if Sam learned that, would have been much better. I see (and hope) for a future Russell Wilson. Both 3rd round picks!

I was just about to post that. It has been so long since I have seen a QB pump fake to draw a db with misconception. I had my questions  on his mental but  the tools are there. I'll root for him.

    • I encourage you to go back and watch his college play. Notice how he immediately backpedals to 10 yards behind the LOS on almost every snap. You can't do that in the NFL. Your OTs have no chance of keeping those freak show edge rushers off of you. You can't create a pocket that deep. Bryce can chuck it when he has an airport runway in front of him to step up into. There's a reason why "ease of creating velocity" is such a talking point evaluating QBs. It's not how hard or how far you can throw the ball given a perfect situation. It's how hard and how far you can throw the ball in a typical NFL game situation and that's where a lot of my concerns with Bryce were going into the draft. There were way too many plays in his college tape that if you were watching that purely in terms of translating it to the NFL it just didn't work.
    • Yeah, like I said I get it. From a revenue perspective I'm not a good customer for them. They've probably intentionally tanked offline franchise mode to try to get people online. Again, not a terrible strategy from a pure business perspective. I can't really be mad at them for doing what's good for business but yeah, from my perspective it still sucks.
    • Ok let me be more specific. Smith was a stud before Newton got here do you not agree? Yes, LaFell improved under Cam but then had his best years after leaving the Panthers with Cam as the QB and going to NE. So he improved playing with someone else. Olsen was in Chicage the year before Cam arrived and statistically had the same numbers his first year with Cam.  Hope that's clearer for you.
