Their model gets poo for being too early and making too many changes throughout the year but this time it's kind of scary how well they were able to frame most scenarios especially Carolina.

NFL Team Logo for Panthers Carolina Panthers: Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State

Matt Rhule believes he's the Jay-Z of NFL head coaches, but he's more Silkk the Shocker than Jay-Z at the moment. For Rhule to truly be Jay-Z, he needs his Beyonce, but he doesn't have a better quarterback option than Sam Darnold, who is basically Rebecca Black. The Panthers whiffed on all the quarterbacks they could've obtained via trade, so they could use this selection on a signal-caller, given that this is the only pick the team has in the top 100.

However, it's sounding like the Panthers will use this pick on a tackle. Carolina doesn't have second- and third-round picks, but it could use the ones it has in 2023 to obtain someone like Matt Corral. If so, the Panthers can take one of the top three tackles.

Charles Cross has great feet as a former five-star recruit. Charlie Campbell reported that Cross has impressed team evaluators this season.

*** OTHER 2022 NFL DRAFT POSSIBILITIES: ***

1. Ikem Ekwonu/Evan Neal, OT - I now believe Carolina is going tackle...

2. Malik Willis, QB - However, quarterback is still a possibility.

Yes Ekwonu was mocked then changed but only because of how other teams saw him and they didn't see a possibility of him being available. The scenario about Matt Corral was spot on like they actually got some inside perspective or they are actual savants, lol. Either way I tend to get a general consensus for mocks to gain perspective. I just found this very interesting that this was so close to reality and hopefully it all plays out for the best.

People around here use to discredit you for bringing up Walterfootball but I like some of their content. Charlie Campbell is particularly good. And they have this one column they do every year position reviews that no one else does.

They combine that year's draft class with the one before it and rank where the prospects would rank if it were one big draft class by position.

Charlie got the first 10 picks correct and has picked the last 5 Panthers 1st round picks correct. Walter's takes are idiotic but Charlie is a good one

yeah, to be that spot on...you kind of start doubting that they know something, at least Charlie does.

    • 1st period was a Masterclass on defense by both teams. About time for the Canes let’s keep it up.
    • Yes, it tells me they’ve improved significantly from sitting at what, 30-31st in the league on the PP to 11th now.
    • I wanted someone to hire him so we got the picks, but I'm also not upset that he'll now be back. I genuinely don't understand why so many fans on here dislike him so much.  No, he's not perfect and made some mistakes this year, especially at the end of the playoff game and going so soft in coverage on the final drive. But considering this place torched him all offseason for us having the "worst defense in NFL history" last year.  Said in the whole pre-draft process how we had to go defense in round 1 because of it and then complained the rest of the offseason that we didn't do enough to improve the defensive roster. How do people say all that about the defense and then complain when he turned that same unit into a pretty respectable defense this year.  They were really the only reason we were in a lot of games for most of the season, as the middle part of the season they really stepped up and were playing like one of the better defenses in the league. I don't see any reason we can't improve even more next year if we spend another offseason focusing on adding pieces on that side of the ball, which we should be able to do with our draft picks and cap space. We had the historically worst defense ever last year and people are upset because we weren't the 85 Bears this year, make it make sense.
