Darnold is a total fugging hack... he is who he is and is what hes  been... we are gonna hustle his azz out there for posterity and realize again he blows... we all know. Coral will be in conservatively by game 4...It will be baptism by fire...not sure he can withstand that... i.e. david Carr....

A lot depends on if Tepper has guaranteed Rhule more time past 2022. If he has then Rhule could start Sam and only insert Corral if the bottom falls out.

True.

For now, I'm taking Tepper's comments at face value.  He seemed to give Rhule his unqualified support recently.  That coupled with no veteran backup suggests Rhule isn't going anywhere in the near future.

His list was a 2nd rounder, 6th rounder, 24th pick and 10th pick.

Your list is 3 number 1 overall picks, a 4th pick and 6th pick. There’s a big difference in expectations. Corral isn’t expected to be ready day 1. It would be surprising if he was and very possibly could be not so good for his development.

He has a first round grade on many people's board. Unique draft, so I'm giving him the benefit of QB1 status.

He was the consensus QB1 last year.

The problem with Marshall was going against starting NFL CBs instead of guys not making teams. No idea if he’ll improve but my point was preseason stats aren’t all that meaningful.

I don’t disagree.  But I also think Rhule failed to give enough opportunities to the young guys.  I mean given what was ahead of Brady and TMJ.   And what are suppose to be….

Corral is the Aaron Rodgers of this draft. A guy who knew he was the best QB that year and sat there and waited and waited.

And yes, third is a slide but there were so many great lineman this year so it was almost inevitable.

Also there is a strategy out there to release bad info about something you want to buy to get that asset cheaper.

Now were they playing chess? Somebody was.

Face value he repeatedly said Sam Darnold was a very good QB right before they traded up for Corral.

Meh, maybe I shouldn't give Tepper the benefit of the doubt, but I was feeling generous at the time.

Even if Corral doesn't displace Sam Darnold out of the gate, it is a hopeful sign to see this franchise try to provide some competition at the QB position.  Something I can't recall happening in quite some time.

I'm interested in seeing a healthy Sam behind a good line in preseason. If he succeeds, he'll probably start week 1. Letting Corral ease into it is best for everyone, if Sam can play well enough to be a space holder.

Congratulations on the most level headed post.

As much as I would love the oline to start the season kicking ass, and taking names.... that doesn't seem to happen in the modern NFL.

Sam is more physically gifted,  and knows the offense.

He should be getting the start at the beginning of the season.

Here is to hoping for a good start to the season, regardless whom is starting.

    • Rico walking is no big deal. I'll take a healthy 2024 Hubbard over Rico any time and losing Mays is, again, no a big deal.  Young is signed for what, $35M for the next two years? Say he wants $50M but the FO doesn't. If they put the franchise tag on him, that would be around $55? So basically they are getting Young for the next 3 years for an average of $30M per year. Putting the franchise tag on him wouldn't be my first choice but it gives them an option that wouldn't be locking him into a long term, $50M contract. I'm not suggestion they do that. Just that the option will be there should they get to that point. Hunt is on a 5 year deal which is done in 28 so he either restructures or is gone anyway. Moton will be 35 by then and will either be gone or have diminished playing time. Neither of those players has anything to do with getting Young a contract. The O line is way overpaid anyway. Hopefully by the time they are gone, Freeling and Hecht will be developed and Ickey will be healthy. Young was benched his second year and only got his job back because Dalton was injured. Not sure how you can call that entitled. And I would NOT say putting a rookie QB on a team with no receivers, tight ends or O lineman and then being put with a coach who never wanted you and is fired mid season, is a definition of luck. As far as competition, no team is going to bring in competition for a QB picked first overall - especially given the capital that was given up to get him.
    • With apologies to Lady Cowboy fan, any day we can screw over the Cowboys is a GOOD day…
    • Been here since 2014ish. Good times. Its a shame Zod wont sell, it wouldnt take that much effort to get this place back into shape.
