All the clichés apply today, as the Carolina Hurricanes and Boston Bruins will decide their Round One series with a seventh and final meeting.

SERIES RECAPS:

  • Game One: Antti Raanta stops 35 out of 36, backstopping Carolina to a 5-1 win in his first career postseason start.
  • Game Two: Sebastian Aho, Nino Niederreiterscore twice as Pyotr Kochetkov earns win in relief.
  • Game Three: Boston scores three special teams goals to claim a 4-2 victory.
  • Game Four: Bruins take advantage of being offered nine power play opportunities, win 5-2.
  • Game Five: Antti Raanta stops 34 out of 35 and Seth Jarvis scores twice en route to a 5-1 victory on home ice.
  • Game Six: Boston wins third game in three tries on home ice, 5-2.

 

THE QUICK HITS:

Since Thursday's Final Horn: Carolina held a full team practice at PNC Arena Friday afternoon. All except Brady Skjei (maintenance) were in attendance.

 

Scouting The Other Side: The Bruins also held a full skate Friday before flying to Raleigh. Jeremy Swayman is once again expected to start for Boston and Hampus Lindholm will play after returning to the lineup for Game 6.

 

History Says: The Canes are 5-0 all-time in Game 7's.

Fantastic Father Finn: Of 14 goalies that have played in four or more postseason games thus far in Round One, only Jake Oettinger (DAL), Jacob Markstrom (CGY) and Mike Smith (EDM) have a better save percentage than Antti Raanta's .926.

 

Keep Shooting, Svech: Andrei Svechnikov single-handedly provided the goal-scoring for Carolina during Game Six, striking twice during the third period. Including a power play tally, the 22-year-old forward said he hopes to keep the confidence going into today's series-deciding game.

 

Blue Line Production: Tony DeAngelo leads all Canes in the series with eight points in six games. His partner, Jaccob Slavin, sits third with six points in the same amount of contests. Slavin leads the team in average time on ice per game, playing 22:52 over the six games. DeAngelo is third with 20:27. The two will be relied upon heavily in today's series-deciding game.

 

Afternoon Starts: The Canes went 11-2 in afternoon starts during the regular season. However, the dropped last Sunday's Game Three, which was a 12:30 p.m. start.

 

 

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

What Are We Wearing?: The Canes will be wearing black for every home game in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

More Milestones: Sebastian Aho is two assists shy of passing Ron Francis for the most assists in franchise playoff history. He is also two goals shy of passing Kevin Dineen to move into a tie for the second-most goals in franchise playoff history.
