Sean Ryan still has the title of quarterbacks coach, but new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo looks like he’s going to be very hands-on with the quarterbacks. From the pre-practice work that included having the QBs skip rope and do other footwork drills, to the 7-on-7 passing sessions, McAdoo was never far from Corral, former Elon QB Davis Cheek or tryout QB Anthony Russo. With McAdoo spending so much time with the position, Matt Lombardi has shifted from assistant quarterbacks coach to pass game specialist and was helping Kevin Gilbride with the tight ends.

An excerpt that caught my attention regarding how the Panthers are thinking about quarterbacks right now...

“When we went back, we loved the way that he played. His release. His moxie,” Panthers coach Matt Rhule said. “He’s gotten injured a little bit because he runs guys over. Or he tries to run guys over. But I think at the end of the day, it’s still a game of who has the ability to throw the ball. And we just love the way that he throws the football. His release. His vision. His timing. And we thought it would translate over to this level.”

Heaven knows I'm not a fan of Matt Rhule, but I agree with this.

That's what got us in trouble with evaluating Sam Darnold. He's a very good thrower of the football. Unfortunately, there's a LOT more to playing QB in the NFL than simply throwing a football.

Burns hasn't been at OTAs.

Reports make it sound like it's something personal and not related to the team.

watch the team announce his new deal in the next 24 hours lol.

I still think he was holding out because of a deal.  Just like Robby did last season.  I guess we will see.  I think him being back means they have agreed on numbers.  Just my wild guess.

Watch them massively overpay him. Burns is not a difference maker and should not be paid as one. But this team hands out overpaid contracts like Halloween candy.
