If Mayfield does well this season (for his level of standards).... That is even worse news for the Panthers future. Means our new coach next year will be put in purgatory at the QB position and likely the Saints/Falcons get the best QBs in the draft.

You are one positive poster, huh? Sheesh. If there’s nothing at all to be even somewhat optimistic about between the Hornets and Panthers then maybe it’s time to take a step back for awhile.

I haven’t had the feel of truthfully meaningful football (excluding first few weeks which is ‘meaningful’ to everyone) since before I had kids that understood

the thought of being able to finally explain what an important game is to my son seems like a welcome feeling.

Beats the hell outta having to find something else to keep them busy all Sunday afternoon..

I still think the Panthers are going for the Arch Manning route.......its in the NFL rules that having a Manning at QB guarantees you at least one super bowl.

It's where our franchises are at right now.... Arguably the worst two in their separate sports sadly. I do believe the Panthers are not as far behind as people think. Our Oline is much better than the national media thinks. If they stay healthy I believe its a top 10 unit and the defense has some great young talent. We just need to fix the QB position and coaching, which is easier said than done.

Neither Mayfield or Darnold are on contract for next year. If a new coach can't figure out what to do with them, he's probably ad bad choice for coach.

    • The teams this 2nd year player (can’t really blame the years before he was drafted on him) was playing were going 100% as most do most weeks in the NFL. The whole argument is about his play during that period and how well was he actually playing. I’m with you on the winning though. Just start winning and fans will get excited. Start getting in the playoffs and winning and we won’t care how his PFF or box score stats look. 200 yards a game to 400 yards a game, start scoring and winning playoffs games and 99% of fans will buy in.
    • Yeah, we are gonna be raw.  Wonnum, for the past 3 years, has been averaging 8 sacks a season (4 in one season when he missed half a season).  I am OK, but yes, they will be thrown to the fire.
    • I like this because it means one or both of the rookies will be thrust into a bigger role right away and we can see what they might be. I don't like this because it just makes our team that much younger and inexperienced.  You need vets to help the young guys learn, I just hope we aren't going too far in the opposite direction.  All our FA signings were guys just coming off their rookie deals too, I get why we're doing it, but having the savvy vets help in other ways too.
