PJ Expected to Start Tonight

Trying to crush the rookie's spirit. What is Matt Rhule actually "teaching" Matt Corral? You ain't sh*t with your fancy skill set and circus accuracy.

This is the absolute worst situation a rookie could be in.

Tepper needs to man up and fire this guy now. Let McAdoo and Snow figure it out. This is worse than Seifert and is showing no signs of improvement.

This coach is making mistake after mistake after mistake.

Tepper is soft. Jerry would have put this joker out on his ass already.

Today, not challenging your starters, disgraceful. That's not football.

Preseason football ain't what it used to be.

Dropping a game seamed to have changed the way teams approach it.  I guess we shall see if it improves the game in the long run.  I suppose once you understand what's really going on in preseason it will start to make sense.

They truly believe someone is going to trade for Darnold lol

I assume their thinking is that after another terrible week of practice having him start for other teams to see isn’t going to improve is already negative trade value

So with that said I understand standing PJ. PJ will be QB2 this year I’m guessing

Walker plays the first and third quarters, Corral gets the second and fourth. If Rhule can college it up, he's gonna do it.

Is it so hard to just give Corral three quarters of a preseason game? Maybe some time where, unlike last week, he's not working with:

OL: 5 UDFAs
WR: 2 UDFAs
TE: 2 UDFAs
RB: 2 UDFAs

As I've stated repeatedly, I think PJ is actually the second best QB in this roster currently.  I like PJ.  Buy I just don't understand the logic behind this. Whether you are like me and think we should cut Darnold and PJ should be the backup, or of you think PJ is the odd man out at the final cuts, it doesn't make sense in either scenario.

Don't get me wrong, Matt looked like a deer in headlights in game one, and a really scared one at that.  He looked overwhelmed.  But, I've made it a point to emphasize, that's partly a product of not getting reps in practice/preseason games, and being surrounded by mostly roster filler in the 4th quarter of a preseason game.  So, despite how bad he looked, I would like to see him with some NFL level talent around him for an extended amount of time.  Even of he gets the 2nd half tonight, it's still gonna be with mostly roster fodder and future cuts.  And this brings us back to why the reps they're wasting on Darnold are so important.

So if the plan is to trade Sam and keep PJ as QB wouldn’t it make the most sense to start PJ tonight?

Giving PJ all those reps last week makes sense now too no?

I think PJ will be the backup this year.

    • Things like this happen everyday. We live in a social media driven society where loyalty is a foreign concept.
    • If you draft a guy who is healthy and has no concerns about that whatsoever and he goes out and tears his ACL in his first few games in the regular season on a physical play that's a freak accident. But when you trade up to draft an RB who is already rehabbing from a recent ACL tear and he spends the next several months continuing his rehab only to tear the same ACL again after less than a handful of regular season carries in a non contact circumstance that is no freak accident. That is a textbook example of why you do not do what we did. Particularly for what is now a plug and play position. And when you have the highest paid OL in the league over the next two years. None of that makes any logical sense. Legitimately it is and was some Scott Fitterer type foolishness. Now as for XL. The guy has not been committed to his craft. I think anyone with eyes on the situation can and would recognize that. However the warning signs were there. One season of legit production raw prospect that we knew would take time to develop etc. But Morgan and Bryce Young's own father were very high on him. I think in some capacity the reality of our limitation at QB is entering into the equation. Even TMac got a lot of flak over the course of his rookie season for not being able to haul in all of Bryce's passes. At the end of the day our fourth year QB also needs to do his part to maximize the talent we have available. As far as this year. Again. WR round 1 boils down to where are we going to get the touches for the rookie? That would require eating into not only our 8th overall picks touches but also our #2 WR whom oh yeah by the way was UNDRAFTED. I am happy to discuss WR prospects here. I was thrilled we invested what we did last year in TMac because it needed to be done and it made sense from all angles. But nowhere is it written in stone that you cannot draft a good or great WR outside of the first round. Except in the Panthers building apparently. That is not a good reflection on our scouts and front office let me tell ya. Because there's no way on this earth we are going to get back to relevancy and legitimate contender status if we can't pick some gems in the later rounds. Simple and plain.
