Matt Rhule has still not learned how to win close games.

All other BS aside the biggest moment was when we went play it safe and kicked a FG leaving the browns plenty of time. That was Rivera year one and two type stuff. It's the type stuff you get when a coach can't get over his ego and take calculated risks that win games. It's also why unless we extend Rhule for another 7 years we won't be a winning team. Maybe not even then.

I didnt have too much of a problem with choosing to run. It was the run calls I have issue with. Yeah there was a snap fumble, but two other runs up the middle isnt the answer. At least be a little more creative with the run calls.

Run calls don't win games. It was up the middle so the kicker had a better shot. They never intended to try a pass.

not when you call it as its happening in current sight.

If we play aggressive and throw a pick... we are singing an entirely different tune. There just isnt a "right" call in those situations. If the refs dont call that RTP or call the IG... then we potentially are talking about a win.

"Hindsight 50/50" - Cam Newton

There is a right mindset though and its play to win the game. Could also fumble the ball on a run, get a holding penalty, and any other number of playing scared things that could happen. Instead we played scared and lost....again

really don't care what Cam Newton said he's not coming back and I'm not looking back and playing make believe about a time that doesn't exist and will never exist anymore

The only thing not running in that situation would have done is leave Cleveland with timeouts to use as they drove further down the field for a much easier game winning FG attempt. Your all’s unwillingness to admit that the Panthers would have won with this strategy but for the two missed calls shows you just want to blame Rhule for everything.

When you’re 10-24 then there’s really nowhere else for the blame to fall.

You can’t blame one loss on a previous two year history when that one loss showed things that weren’t shown during those two years, like halftime adjustments and a team that didn’t roll over and quit when the teams from the past two years would have.

    • He was saying Ron hid when he was cut/traded whatever that was.  I get being resentful, and feeling like that was gutless.  He, and Ron, neither are from the ‘breaking up with someone in a text or email is okay’ generation. That avoidance is seen as a lack of character.  Talking about it on camera how many years later? Why? And it is all one sided he said she said stuff. As he is speaking I am thinking well I bet that ain’t the whole story.    Between this type of stuff and him cheating on the wife stuff some of his shine is wearing off.
    • I was very critical of Ron Rivera as a coach for a range of reasons. But Steve Smith has been playing the victim for years now and it's just not working anymore. We know for a fact that he was disgruntled from the moment we drafted Cam Newton because of his own ego. That says more about him than anything he could say about Rivera. And yes Ron Rivera had a lot of faults. No excuses for it. We were right to move on from him. But ultimately Steve Smith couldn't hold it together with that group the same as he struggled to hold it together under previous regimes. He needs to grow up and accept his own role in the last few years of his Panthers career because there are things he could and should have done differently the same as anyone else. Stop seeking to only shift blame to everyone else and evolve or just stop talking and fade away. This isn't helping anyone and it is certainly not helping his image.
    • A friend of mine was involved in building Steve Smith's house and nearly came to blows with him during the process.  Love Smitty as a player, but I've heard very little good about him as a human being.
