Think Snow will defend his run D after today?

Remember, even Saban sucked as a NFL hed coach, but Rhule was supposed to break the mold?  Jimmy Johnson was the last college HC (without any prior NFL coaching gigs) to be successful.

Things might have been different with Saban had they signed Drew Brees like he wanted. He pretty just said fug this and went back to college where he can run the full show after that. What's shocking is that Matt Rhule was able to get that type of control right out of the gate despite having close to zero NFL experience. Tepper really showed how green he was as an owner on that one.

Snow is the only reason Rhule was even mediocre in college. They’re intertwined in my opinion. Still don’t understand why we have 5-6 DBs on the field against an offense led by Brissett

Seriously…going into this game wouldn’t you think the obvious keys were stop the run and screen game…holy snikies that was bad. Especially thinking of all the picks and capital spent on D

Once again, we have no identity on Defense.  It seems glaringly obvious that running a 34, 43, 52, etc., does not work.  Burns should be an OLB in a 34, period.  Roy should be a nose, Brown would play DE in the 34, etc.  But who wants a revamp and rebuild after the first game.  We don't have a clue.

Very bad game plan today.  We should have ran at Garrett all day like they ran at Burns

When your offense does nothing in the first half, and you're up against an excellent opposing o-line and man beast of a RB bad things are gong to happen.

On the other hand I've never liked this defense. Our defense looks like it's been built by someone who doesn't understand how to build a defense. We're too light up front, and Brown is a bust when going against a really good o-line.

    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
    • Yea Bryce was definitely a top half qb the second half of last season but I'm not sure Canales is 100% sold on him.  Like I've said in another post I think that's part of why we talked to so many South Carolina players in the draft process.  I think they are doing early due diligence on Sellers just in case.
