Should have just resigned Cam and given him the full offseason with the team.

It was yet again the easiest and most obvious answer for the second time. Yet Rhule and his ego has to tin foil hat his own bullshit on his process chalk board and fug it up yet again.

He really doesn't like Cam.  From the "can't wait to coach him" bullshit to how he treated him last season and despite Cam coming in and giving the team a spark they hadn't had in 2 years, he still benched him once Darnold was healthy again.  When Cam came back last year, you could see how unhappy Rhule was.  Everytime Cam joked around or celebrated, you could almost always see Rhule lurking with a frown on his face.  He doesn't want anyone to command more attention or devotion than him, and he couldn't stand it...

But you're right, if we didn't have that idiot in place, the smart money was just to bring Cam back and let him have a full offseason preparing in the new offense and let him start for the foreseeable future until we drafted a rookie that could eventually step in.  But Rhule couldn't have that...  so instead we opt for more inaccurate, dysfunctional QB retreads from other dysfunctional organizations.

And it also sucks for Cam individually because I just don't think he'll get another opportunity to sign with a team and have a full offseason to prepare.

100% agreed

And we would have finally known if Cam could return to form. Which would be far greater value than some FA scrub or any QB we could draft. Even if he didn’t have his rocket arm anymore we would at least still be money on 3rd and short and this defense would feast with the extra rest.

Damn straight.  And I still maintain even in his lesser form, he has been the most productive QB we've fielded under Rhule, just because he's naturally more talented and proven.  He produced more with less in a lot fewer opportunities...  but Rhule wants to be the smartest guy in the room and show everyone he knows better and decides to take the rest of the team, the season, and us as fans hostage in the process.  fuging idiot.  Smh...

Sorry to disagree but Baker seems to be turning a corner. Every ball is not going to be on point. Tight ends need to catch & playing calling could be a little better. He seems to be more calm today & throws have have been on point (minus a couple).

Let us see how the second half goes. Defense is balling!

And his "done" version is still better than the 4 other guys who have started under Rhule.

Depends on what you're looking for. With the threat of his legs yeah he can still motor. But the arm isn't scaring anyone. If it was he would absolutely be on a roster somewhere. When we moved on initially we should have went all in on moving up in the draft for our own QB if need be but we have over and over tried to acquire retreads. Rhule and Co have been deathly afraid of developing a rookie QB and that is why we are staring down the barrel of yet another rebuild.

Baker and Sam equally suck.

and at the same time…two duds look their absolute worst of their entire disappointing careers under Matt Rhule.

Matt Rhule is problem 1.  All other problems get amplified by him

    • So Willis had a good game against a poor defense and all of a sudden he is worth 50 million and is guaranteed to be better than Young. LOL I know he looked good in the 3 games he started, and I think he will have success long term, but anyone signing him up for a long term contract for 50 million is taking a huge risk.
    • Is he really though? Rivera was past his prime and probably shouldn't have even started 2019 so his firing wasn't really unexpected or unwarranted. Rhule lasted two and a half years which was about one year too long in my opinion. Bringing him back that third year certainly wasn't impulsive and I would say Tepper was more patient than he should have been. Wilks finished out that third season and did pretty good but most everyone could see he really wasn't anything more than an intern HC. Bringing him back was not the long term answer so not bringing him back was the correct call. Hiring Reich was a mistake from the beginning and he recognized that fairly quickly. I am sure he knew he was going to catch a lot of sh*t for firing him so quickly ( and boy did he ) but it was absolutely the right thing to do given everything that was going on. The firing may have looked impulsive, but I think it was him recognizing he had royally f*ck up and just dealt with it instead of letting it fester.  That brings us to Canales. 2025 was only his second season and yet he delivered 8 wins and the NFC South title. And while that might not sound great, given the lack of talent and cap space they started with, it's a strong step in the right direction. I couldn't imagine Tepper not being pleased with their progress given the crap the Panthers' have been though under his ownership.
    • At the end of the day we're all holding our breath in anticipation waiting to see if Bryce Young will look and play horribly to begin his fourth season just as he has in his first three seasons. No cherry picking obscure metrics or screaming about haters will change that.
