How much dead cap space will will eat? How much will will save for next year? I liked CMC, but this needed to happen. Fresh slate for a new rebuild. It’ll be fun to see other players get a chance this year. Season definitely over..most fans obviously knew this before the trade

18m next year

the team has other pieces. What it needed was to make a massive investment at the most important position on the field to make it all work.

now the team has less pieces and almost certainly only got a high end backup or low level starter to show for it

In my mind, by the time this team is really competitive CMC’s prime will be gone.

We also needed picks to make this coaching job attractive.

most people are. Im reading a lot of huff and puff about Lynch needing to be fired. Fans are pissed that he has leveraged the short term future on a QB on IR and a RB that has been on IR 2 out of the 3 past seasons

Lynch has created a strong 2 year window for them to make some noise.  If I was a niners fan I would be happy they are going all in

the first pick overall most certainly does

you still have to have a good football team to win games

color me unconvinced that whatever depth piece they acquire out of this is better for their overall competitiveness than what they had-mccaffrey and the inside track to the top pick

you just don’t get it man, but if you follow me on Twitter you’ll see that I’ve got some really excellent write ups on some exciting middle round prospects that I discovered due to my vast scouting mind and YouTube.com

I don't know if you're being serious or sarcastic 😂.

I will say that I do believe a lot of us on at the Huddle could do a better job with those picks than the guys in the FO. None of us would have ever drafted Vernon Butler in the 1st round. We wouldn't have drafted Derrick Brown as the 6th overall in 2020. We wouldn't have traded down from a mid 30's pick to 58 and pass on 5 offensive tackles, 2 starting guards, and a center in Creed Humphrey an center who'll likely be a Pro Bowler/All-Pro for the rest of the decade to draft TMJ, a WR that never impacts the play on the field. We wouldn't have traded a 3rd round pick for CJ Henderson or a 2nd round pick for Sam Darnold.

Yet, all of the above (and plenty of other misses in rounds 3-7) have happened since 2016 due to decisions in the front office, which doesn't appear likely to change this off-season. Why should we think we're going to strike gold with 3 extra 49er draft picks in 2023 (pun intended)?

Nothing this team has done —not one thing — has made it better, in four years.

the issue is that they didnt go after where they weakness lies. They cant protect the QB or get to the QB. As vaunted as that defense is... they only have 9 sacks on the season. 6 of those are Bosa (who is injured)m and 4 of those sacks came against us.

They are the 3rd lowest scoring offense in the league, and that isnt due to their rushing game. Is because their drives stall out due to pressure getting to the QB. They need a RT soooo bad.... this doesnt take them over the top... this keeps them in the middle for a couple of years now.

This isnt me being anti-CMC trade either. Bc you and I had this conversation earlier this week or late last week. The 49ers are in a tough spot right now, and they are putting their all of their eggs in the CMC basket. I wouldnt be surprised if this turns into a Stephon Gilmore type trade for the 9ers as he was to us. 3-0 and then the wheels come off.

1. He is injury prone

2. He is 26

3. We were not winning anything anytime soon with our current draft capital

4. We havent one poo with him on the roster for damn near 4 years.

What exactly were you expecting from him in regards to production on this team?  As it stood status quo we were on the hamster wheel of being terrible.

His production can easily be replaced

Oh and its more then likely he requested the trade so your position is basically a moot point.  He didnt want to be here

    • there is one common denominator in the 2003 & 2015 Carolina Panthers teams they both had ELITE top tier Qb play.  it would require a MVP type of season from Bryce Young to have the same type of success that Jake Delhomme had in  2003 & or Cam Newton in 2015 & lead this team to a SuperBowl is this going to happen or is there any reason to believe Bryce Young is capable of playing similar to Jake Delhomme in 2003 or Cam Newton in 2015 ? well no there is no absolutely NO reason whatsoever to believe that this is going to happen in 2026 ..just saying
    • I'd actually like to see Cherelus get a fair shot to win the job in camp. Wallace is decent in drop zone coverage, but he gets abused in the play action game and is often times out of position in the run game. It might just be me, but I swear every time I watch Wallace play, I see multiple plays a game were it looks like he's just trying to be blocked. Watching Cherelus last year he at least looked like he was trying to hit someone on every play. Wallace plays like a LB who doesn't trust what he sees and it makes him passive and cautious versus Cherelus who regardless of if his decision is right or wrong goes at it 100%.
    • Agreed.  Hasn’t happened to me either, but I feel very strongly about it.  That’s not just one of the worst things a woman could do to a man, it’s a power inherent to only women and is one of the worst things a HUMAN being can do to another.  A man can’t “hide” a pregnancy or maternity.  It’s impossible.  And that sucks for anyone that has to go through that. I always got a weird vibe off her and just found her very unlikeable.  Annoying even.  I’ve always been good at reading people and there was just something about her to me that was off-putting, somewhere under the surface.  And here we are…  she is despicable.
