I like our squad, not a whole lot of changes I’d make.

Pepi for Jesus, anyone except Long and Malik Tillman for Roldan or Morris. Berhalter just too stuck on his mediocre MLS guys

I had Steffen over Johnson, Tillman over Roldan, Pepi over Ferreira, and Pefok over Morris.

Unfortunately, Long has to be on the roster. Robinson and Richards are hurt and Berhalter hates Brooks. Our CB depth is atrocious. Maybe you take McKenzie over Long but regardless, the depth is still horrid.

If I had to put together a depth chart for the current roster, I’d go:

GK - Turner, Horvath, Johnson

RB - Dest, Yedlin, Moore

RCB - Zimmerman, Long

LCB - Ream, Carter-Vickers

LB - Robinson, Scally

CDM - Adams, Acosta

CM - McKennie, Roldan

ACM - Musah, de la Torre

RW - Aaronson, Reyna

ST - Weah, Sargent, Wright, Ferreira

LW - Pulisic, Morris

I think Weah gets the surprise start at striker, I just don’t see a way that you can start Sargent, Wright or Ferreira. Even though Weah isn’t a pure striker, I think you have to try your best to put the best 11 on the pitch. Reyna, Sargent, Wright, and Acosta (if we are trying to protect a lead) all provide decent depth off the bench.

I am far from a super fan but I very much enjoy the World Cup. I keep thinking I can be a better fan so maybe this year I can learn more.

I know the controversy over the current site is old news but I found the Netflix series very interesting and keep learning more about the issues and the teams this year.

Really looking forward to it but wonder what regular fans thought of the documentary?

Ecuador should come out on top of Qatar in this one.

Enner Valencia is in great form right now, he’s been a goal scoring machine at Fenerbahçe (Turkish League). Moisés Caicedo is also a breakout candidate for Ecuador, he’s been playing really well in the midfield for an overachieving Brighton (EPL) team. A good World Cup could see him moving on to a bigger club. Former Charlotte FC midfielder, Alan Franco, is on the bench for Ecuador.

Nice start for Ecuador, up 2-0 at the half. Valencia with both goals (one from the penalty spot). Nothing better than seeing a third world country show up one of the wealthiest countries in the world (though it was expected).

As for the disallowed goal, I understand the explanation, I refereed soccer for 15 years, however, the explanation doesn’t match what my eyes are seeing. Maybe someone else sees it different than I do.

    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
    • I hear you but yeah like you say, above average. His numbers were good. You’d think it would be a no brainer. Anyhow… I guess the new staff is also fine with him walking?    I hope if we sign him there isn’t some secret issue of his that led to him not being valued.
