There was plenty of chatter prior to the season that the 49ers were starting to doubt him. And the games he started didn't do a whole lot to alleviate those doubts.

I've always believed in the "actions speak louder than words" saying.  Especially when the words are coming from unconfirmed sources in the media.  Putting Jimmy G on the trade block AND starting Lance week one shows me they were more than confident in their young QB.

Or felt like it was "sh-t or get off the pot" time with him.

There have been people suggesting John Lynch should be fired over that trade. I don't think I'd go that far because overall the 49ers are still good, but that particular transaction looks like a disaster right now.

Mind you, the general consensus is that Adam Peters is the one who does all the actual personnel work anyway so if Lynch were to be fired it might be a largely symbolic move.

This thread'll age well when Jimmy G shits the bed in the playoffs again.

Exactly!  This is nothing new.  He does this every year with a decent regular season and chokes in the playoffs when good teams make Jimmy G beat them.  It's the reason the Niners made the trade in the first place...

The guy is a borderline MVP candidate on a rookie contract. They'd be utterly insane to even consider trading him.

I know but I sure do have wishful thinking regarding him. I never gave him a shot in the world or ever believed he would be successful and he sure made me eat my words. I would have straight up traded CMC for him that's for sure.

    • I had everything saved on an old email address and my computer crashed and could not be revived.  I tried reviving it, then stumbled on one I was going to create several years ago...So I am using it instead.  My fault--did not keep the email and forgot password--
    • Rasheed Walker for Kris Jenkins Jr.is what i am actually referring to in that particular post  all those #'s you are referring to are athletic #'s & Monroe Freeling had or has an impressive combination of size & raw athletiscm & it has nothing do with his size or athelticsm that is preventing him from being a day 1 starter in the NFL technique is where he struggled at the NFL combine & not only scouts but analysts alike also viewed him as more of a developmental type of player rather than a day 1 starter  go take a look at Will Campbell transition from the SEC to the NFL another first round LT that was drafted #4 overall by the New England Patriot,s.Will Campbell was a three year starter at  LSU & was thought to be one of if not the very best LT's in the SEC  & compare his SEC carrer to his rookie season in the NFL? just because you played good in the SEC at LT does nescarrily mean you are ready to start at LT in the NFL day 1 & or your rookie season  & one last thing i think you are jumping to conclusion & somehow assuming that i do not like Monroe Freeling ?which could not be further from the truth .what i do not like is the idea starting a player who is not ready ...just saying
    • I'd 10x rather play the NFC North than NFC West.
