That's a dubious idea at best. Every nfl player knows that every snap they take in a game is filmed and available for review by 31 other potential employers. It would be dangerous to intentionally put yourself on film playing awful in an actual game for any reason, but particularly when the perception of your career and abilities is downward trending after being the number one pick in the draft.

Not that it couldn't happen, because nfl players are completely capable of being stupid just like anyone else, but it would be a monumentally risky and probably boneheaded move for any nfl player.

I didn't really have high expectations for a lot of the guys being mentioned.

Many of the guys mentioned have shown potential to be really good but have underachieved for various reasons, Matt Rhule being the obvious one. It’s why getting the next HC and staff hire right is so crucial.

Yeah, but when you have competent LBs and want to get the guy on the field what are you supposed to do? I mean he has trouble covering every receiving options from RBs, TEs, and WRs. I mean a coach can't be penalized for not switching him to OLB and blitzing every play. At this point it seems he literally would be regulated to a two down weakside OLB in a 4-3 defense.

I definitely don't think a player in his situation would ever consider tanking his play on purpose. I mean, there was virtually no market for him to get out of Cleveland. He couldn't afford for his stock to go down even more. Based on his play in L.A. and Darnolds okay here post-Rhule I honestly think Rhule needs to never have any input on an offense ever again.

overall agree but i'd question the notion Matt Rhule showed potential to be really good at the NFL level. IMO there is more evidence that ra ra college coaches fail in the NFL than succeed.

He means Matt Rhule is the reason they underachieved.

YGM sucks. Rotational role player at best. I don’t think people mentioned him because we didn’t expect much. Big miss drafting him.

Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.

      Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
