Jim Harbaugh flirting with the Carolina Panthers UPDATE

Harbaugh works in college because after 4 years, players are moving on to the NFL. The comments from the players when he left the 9ers are a little concerning IF you're looking to look up players long term.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports New Orleans granted Denver permission to interview Sean Payton for their head coaching vacancy.

Payton technically still belongs to the Saints, who granted permission for the Broncos to interview the long-time New Orleans head coach for their upcoming vacant head coaching position. Schefter adds that any in-person interview would have to wait until January 17, per league sources.

I don’t know how I feel about Tom Gamble following Harbaugh though…we have people here that bitched and moaned about Friends of Rhule but Friends of Jim doesn’t sit well with me either.

Every coach has friends and trusted people they like to work with. See also Steve Wilks and Al Holcomb.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Rams coach Sean McVay's future is "in limbo." 

"(Sources) believe McVay will take some time after Sunday's regular season finale against the Seahawks to determine whether he will return in 2023," Schefter reports. Enduring his first losing season, McVay also mulled bolting the Rams' sideline last offseason to go work in television. "McVay has gone back and forth on the decision, and needs time to get away to process all that has transpired over the past year — winning a Super Bowl, being courted to work in television, getting married, watching his wife's home country of Ukraine invaded, losing his grandfather, and then coaching a team that has fallen short of its expectations," Schefter elaborated. Mired in something of a coaching mid-life crisis, it certainly doesn't help that McVay has a deteriorating roster and no draft picks to fix it. He could be in a classic coaching spot where he briefly "retires" for television before returning for another opportunity. Stay tuned.

Which could be okay if he's like the hoodie, who moved people along a year early rather than a year late. Other than a handful like Brady, McGinest, Mayo, Branch, Edelman, and Welker, I think NE was a revolving door for the most part. Many were ring chasers, which, if that happens in Charlotte would be a superb outcome.

He has a good point about the panthers and our division. Falcons no QB. Bucs = Brady TBD. Saints no QB. Panthers no QB. Whichever team gets a legit QB first could be in the driver seat for the next 5-10.
