So which QB do we think will be available at #9?

I think someone will trade with Bears and grab a quarterback and don't think it will be Panthers.   Colts, maybe?

It's safe to say Young and Stroud will be gone early, I am hoping someone drops to us like Will Levis or Anthony Richardson.

Am I being delusional?  Is trading up our only option to land one of the top 4 QBs in the class?

This is not the time to go on the defense tirade for Fields. He is an elite runner but he cant stay healthy, nor throw and protect the football.

This - I'm not sold that Fields will pan out long term.  He relies on his legs too much

It's very hard to say who will be where until after combine and interviews. Right now its an endless treadmill of speculation.

I think that's kind of the fun of it all at this point.  Throw out your projections before gym shorts season.

I think the most clarity anyone can have about a QB class is right after the season and before all the combine and pro day nonsense where terrible quarterbacks like Zach Wilson somehow get hyped into getting drafted second overall.   All you need to see in a quarterback is watching situational football in real games.

Houston, Indy, Seattle, Detroit, Vegas and possibly Atlanta all need QB’s

Those are just the teams in front of us

I think QB’s go 1-3 with Arizona trading out.

I know it’s January but as it stands right now I have a tough time envisioning a scenario where we are able to stay at 9 and land one of the 4 guys. Outside of Carter and Anderson the hype surrounding other non QB prospects is pretty low which isn’t helping us.

Brady, Rodgers and Lamar could all be on new teams come draft time which will potentially take a team or two in front of us out of the QB market

If there is a run on QBs and probably the elite 2 or 3 defensive guys, we should just go best available offensive playmaker at that point.  IDK who the top 2 WRs are, but we should take a long look at them.  Maybe JSN from Ohio State?  Jordan Addison from USC?  We also could look at the best edge or DE available there.  Lots of possibilities.  Probably not getting a QB we want unless we trade up.  Someone is going to get a hard on for AR and trade up into the top 5 to draft him.  We probably resign Sam and roll with him one more year...

    • This is gonna be longest six weeks ever
    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
