Lol. Reeled one in. Of course I’m not being serious, hence the wasted money comment. He looked like he was running in cement. We gave him $450k for every return where he didn’t put the ball on the ground.

Gotcha.  Yeah the wasted money comment was clear but it was the "he shined" part of your post that was hard to infer sarcasm from.  I was like.....were we watching the same guy?

We have neglected KR/PR forever in the draft.

Hence why I said in my offseason predictions that we would do so again.

I've never really understood why. KR/PR is free field position. We have all seen what guys like Hester could do in the return game. An extra 6-8 yards on a return can mean the difference in a game, especially if it's coming down to a field goal.

I can't explain it either. We just seem to think any JAG WR can get it done.

Also, Clayton Tune has the most Brock Purdy potential in this class.

tune has my attention. i mean in no way should we draft somoene like him hoping that he could be the starter, but if we draft a QB in the first round (and we should absolutely do that), we should also draft another one later...or at least pick up one as a udfa. i mean after the first 4 guys there's a good crop of "maybe" guys out there who would be worth a shot.

as much as i like even stroud and young, there's no way i would be ok coming out of this draft with just one QB.

I liked Tune a lot at first but his deeper balls and throwing motion are big knocks.  He's close with most else.

Size - check, Enough speed - check, led comebacks/good poise - check, good awareness/pressure sensitive - check, he's tough as nails too.

Issues: He throws like a baseball, he has almost a wind up.  Also loses accuracy beyond 20-yarders.

Would love him R4-6.  Originally thought he was a riser and was liking him, but he's got some limitations. Just doesn't quite have the arm talent and accuracy on deeper routes.

I thought the 28 catches this year was the breakout? I means he did get his first and only TD at that pivotal moment in the 4th at Cincy when we were only down 42-7.

I really hope we get the new QB some WR/TE help. No CMC out of the backfield and just DJ doesn’t cut it.

It’s gonna be okay bruv.

We keep saying this.  Hopefully, this year will be an actual breakout year for Marshall.

He’s flashed.

He might end up being a bust, but there has been enough malfunction in this organization’s leadership (and QB) that it’s not unreasonable to assume the jury is still out on not just Marshall, but many young players.

That being said, Marshall isn’t stopping me from drafting another receiver by any means.

yeah i wouldn't want any of these QBs after the first 4 until well after round 4. i'm thinking 5th or later. and maybe a udfa as a practice squad guy. i'd like to see a full QB room and with a good few options, esp. in case of injury. i'd like the panthers under Reich to be QB university.

I'm trying to question myself on where I got with my QB preferences this week. Take a sober look back at the season and ignoring all the hype circles and mocks:

-I'm still really trying to like Levis but still having a very difficult time.  I want to like him and get hyped but just can't.

-I bought into McKee's story and potential a bit too much wanting someone to rise from that second tier ranks.  At the end of the day, he simply should have produced more.  He just doesn't give me the feel of a guy who can score at will.  Closer to Davis Mills 2.0 than a 1st Rounder.

-I've been a bit hard on Jaren Hall and Hendon Hooker--Looking back, they have some great qualities and had some really nice stretches.  They're rising again for me in the non-top tier.  If you can get past their age (similar to Levis), I think there's great reasons to take them.

-I still am a bit weary with Duggan even if he looked like one of the better guys at the Senior Bowl.  Just doesn't do enough as a passer to warrant anything more than a 4th.

-Jake Haener is the only one after the top-4 that I've remained high on outside of Young & Stroud.  I was following him last year, was so bummed he had to miss some weeks, but I just see him playing on Sundays.  If a guy like Bailey Zappe does, Haener sure as hell does and more.   He could be a 3rd rounder come draft time.  Seems to have beefed up a tad as well which was needed (really his biggest knock, he's got so much to like outside of being a pencil).

-Still really wish four guys declared: Jayden Daniels, Cameron Ward, Michael Penix, & Michael Pratt.  They could've made money and climbed up this QB board easily.  Penix specifically.  He could get lost in the shuffle next year.

-Bagent, T-R, O'Connell & Cuninngham are all kind of off my radar/UDFAs

    • I see they blamed Slavin for the goal like I did.
    • See this is the problem, you say "can't get off the line quick" and "can't separate quick" but in reality it's "he can get off the line better and create more separation" which are two completely different things. If he couldn't get off the line or separate, he wouldn't have put up the numbers he did and end up a Top 10 pick. But he can get better, and maybe more accurately, consistent with them both, and that will take his game to the next level.  These are things that are also much easier to improve once you get to the NFL than things like being a poor route runner or having bad hands, two of his strengths. Thinking he can't get open in the short passing game also shows you haven't watched enough tape on him, as he was used in that role so much in college with little issue getting open and making plays. And him not using his physicality as much isn't even something that hurts his game because he's so much more agile than a player of his size should be, which he used to his advantage.  Instead of throwing passes where he'd go up and box out a player like a TE or Mike Evans does, they use his athleticism and put the ball in places that only he can get to it, and he usually does (and yes, he'll still be able to do that against NFL DB's with his catch radius). But now that he's in the NFL, I'd like to see him get stronger and add that to his game because it also will help him take his game to another level. As I've said before, if he doesn't improve on those things at all, I think he's a Top 25 WR in this league, he's already that good.  But I think he'll improve on those things and be a perennial Top 10 WR and in his prime is considered and perform like Top 5 guy in some years. My expectations for him this year at 800 yards and 8 TDs (although I do think he'll get to 10 TDs) with a real chance at getting to 1,000.  But those expectations are because I think Thielen will lead the team in yards with close to 1k and XL/Coker each end up in the 500-600 range themselves, just too many mouths to feed this year for a rookie to dominate yardage, especially if we're running the ball well again. But if Thielen can't stay healthy or puts up sub 750 yards, then yea, my expectations for T-Mac likely shift to getting to 1k as a rookie.
    • Svech only 1 goal behind the guy they've pretty much already given the Conn Smythe to...
