Hooker could be the steal of the draft.

It’s really hard to tell with that offense UT runs. His WRs were wide open a lot and he threw some floaters to get it there sometimes. He didn’t look nearly as good in VT’s offense. I will say this though, he is a tough leader mentally and will put in the work to get better. If a coach like Reich can zero in on a few issues, he could turn out pretty good.

Hooker's injury, while bad, shouldn't impact his game long term.  If the film tells you he's a franchise guy, you should take him.  I think the only reason he might slide is because a team might want him to play this coming season.  Not sure that's gonna happen.

His numbers look good.  He's a little older, which is either a positive or a negative depending on your evaluation.  I think he has a chance to be a good one.

It’s still so early. Remember the Willis to Detroit at #2 mock drafts?

QB is treated so differently in the draft since it’s so important and you only play 1 on Sunday.

This draft doesn’t have undeniable QB talent, but the teams picking at the top need QB.

So I could easily see 4 in the top 10, all being “reaches” based on big boards.

I can also see 2 of the top 4 QB’s, if not taken top 10, drop all the way to the 2nd round. And maybe 1 goes in the 3rd.

You draft a QB to be the guy nowadays, not to develop, so after the 1st round, the question turns into “when do you value drafting a backup QB?” Teams wild rather go another impact position with their 2nd/3rd rounds.

I think that can influence prospects taking a free fall at the QB spot. You are drafted to be the guy or not. And if you are drafted to be the guy, you are drafted early.

The Willis to number 2 hype never even started until he did his roll out long pass on his Proday.  This time last year, they were still saying early 2nd late 1st.

Stroud and Young have been hyped for a while.  And a lot of people were talking about tanking for these 2 the same way they are Drake and Caleb today.

Oh yeah it’s a complete guessing game at this point, but Huddlers are wanting to find a reason to stress out. From this class is terrible to all 4 will go in the top 8, I’m just trying to follow the logic…

He probably wasn’t even going to play this year anyways without the injury.  He’s got a Huge leaning curb like Corral did coking from the offense he played at Tennessee

Hooker is a great guy and a solid QB.  But there’s a reason why he never really got the hype outside of this area as far as a NFL prospect even before the injury.  He is a similar athlete and similar arm strength as Corral.  But the system hurts him similar as it did to Corral etc.  The hype around here is driven because he’s a local kid and both schools he played at  have big fan bases in the area.

here is a good write up on the system he plays in.

if this were 2 years ago I’d take him.  But we just did this with Corral last year.

I'm pretty high on Jaren Hall. He has some raw talent and his intangibles seem to be off the charts. Main concern seems to be age and injury history.

Clayton Tune is the one I think could be a real stud though. He's big, not too old (23 now, 24 by draft), mobile, and is damn good at football. Smaller college, not great competition. I think once you get past that and just look at his talent and production alone, he's a baller. I'm not saying he should be a first rounder, but some of his film flashes that kind of talent. SMU game is crazy good film imo.

The one article I read had him at #10.  Two solid seasons at Houston.

It's interesting to me what Reich sees in the upcoming prospects.  Is there a QB that is being overlooked because he come from a small school or had a bad record last year.

    • Should have been Pittsburgh or even Detroit. How a -37 team made the playoffs is beyond me.
