Combine Drills: Quarterback Day

I just hope if we move up to draft AR it has little to do with his combine performance. If the coaches and FO see somebody they can develop into an elite passer, then fine. The athleticism should be looked at only as a bonus. Given all the questions he has as a thrower of the football, he’s still 3rd/4th option for me at QB.

He literally just had the best combine drills ever.  That just pushed him way up on general principle

His score is his score.   Along with his great interviews it’s not going to matter how he throws

I dont think there has ever been a priority in drafting a QB based on their RAS scores... if he comes out and misses throws... teams are not going to want to leverage the farm to get a project, he will drop in the right spot to be picked. I like the kid, but im not going to jump the gun and say he is the number 1 overall pick in this draft yet.

Would the bears take 2 firsts and our 2 seconds?
burns and 9?

3 firsts?

I think he prob just become too rich for our blood unless he absolutely tanks the throwing portion. Which isn’t bad, one of young or stroud just got cheaper

Lets pump the brakes a little bit here.... If AR comes out throwing ducks or off target... his stock wont be as high. We have a recenty bias right now... but comes end of March, after pro days, the lay of the land could be different.

Be serious, Cas. All you need to be a SB winning QB is to be able to jump super high/far and run really fast. It's official, ok? Who cares how well he passes a football.

If you don’t after that then I doubt you ever will.

According to our insider here, the staff isn't waiting for pro days.  Their mind will be made up after tomorrow and they'll make their move accordingly.

I hope it's AR, and not just because of the combine...  the combine just enhanced his value.

    • CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers coach Dave Canales said Friday that starters will play in the first two preseason games, stopping just short of admitting he made a mistake last season holding them out. The plan includes playing quarterback Bryce Young, who got off to a historically bad start to the 2024 regular season that got him benched after opening 0-2. Carolina opens their preseason schedule Friday at home against Cleveland, followed by an August 15 road game at Houston and August 21 home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.   Canales said he will evaluate after the first two games whether starters will play in the third game. "Kind of going through it last year, we had a mix of veteran players, but [this is] predominantly a pretty young team,'' said Canales, who has at least six new starters to the defense that was the worst in the league a year ago. "I just can't pass up the opportunities. The reps in games are valuable. "[But] it goes to the night before, when guys know they're going to go out there, they've got to make a decision to play football. So it starts the night before with the prep. You start thinking about your plan, taking care of your body, making sure you get your rest.''   https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45880676/panthers-starters-play-first-2-preseason-games-says-coach
    • You call the Cowboys purely for information, but we don't have the assets to pull off any realistic trade. Also, even if they would consider any trade, it's more likely they want to do it with an AFC team.
