What would you ask from Houston?

Discussed this a little yesterday but wanna put a slightly different spin on it...

If you're okay with either of two choices and the Texans want to talk about trading up to the top pick to ensure they get the guy they most covet, you then have an opportunity to gain an additional pick (or picks) while still getting your guy as well.

So if Houston enters into that discussion, what are you asking in return? Options would include the #12 overall pick the Texans got from the Browns, their second rounder (#34 overall) , their first rounder in 2024, etc.

What would you ask for?

What could you settle for?

The best we could probably hope for would be #34. Realistically I’d take a 3rd. Wouldn’t do the trade at all of they were targeting our #1 (hopefully Stroud) and that would make us take our 1b. If we’re dropping to 2 and getting Stroud regardless, then honestly I’d take anything, it’d be a freebie.

It's weird.  I feel like you only trade to #1 if there is one specific guy you actually covet.  So I think our FO and staff know exactly who they want and who they traded up there for.  So, that's where I disagree with Person here...  I don't think they traded there with the idea they like "more than one."  They traded for THE ONE they like.  Now, that being said, I only see us trading back if we have solid Intel that the Texans aren't interested in the guy we want.  If that is the case, I'm taking that 12th pick and running Zay Flowers or Hyatt's card up to the podium.  No hesitation.

You are sacrificing your chance to choose the first qb and quite possibly the one you wanted. That's a big something that is being ignored. To hell with extra picks. Don't overthink this.

Who cares what spot they were taken if you think they're both franchise quarterbacks?

Getting a franchise quarterback is great. Getting a franchise quarterback and another great player is better.

It's not his opinion. Person's getting it from a team source (others have said the same).

Mind you, that's now. If, after they've gone through the full pre-draft process they only like one, then the situation changes.

How do you know Huston would not trade back out of the 1st? How do you know they have 2 they would be happy with?  They will have only one that they will choose when it comes time. Everyone is speculating there are a couple to cover their ass for when their predictions are wrong.

    • Boy we agree on the dink and dunk. I don’t want to watch that kind of football.  I mean okay if you win with it, it could be tolerable but it feels claustrophobic, constrained, limited, boring.  But for some reason I love a smash mouth heavy run game that wins the LOS and gets the backs to the second level.
    • I am really sorry  that  happened to you they say to never meet your sports heroes i have friends who met  mickey mantle when they were young and he was a belligerent alcoholic at the time  ut broke their hearts  I had the opportunity to meet and spend  time with Cam Newton.     He was the polar opposite of Steve Smith and his public image.   Polite.  Honest when asked question.  You could tell the things that mattered to him and the things that  didnt. The disappointments in himself and the things that hurt him  those qualities make him quite a good interviewer too  i genuinely liked him   Im sure as young, rich, sports hero, he has not been a choir boy but there is goodness in him  the time i met him i took one of my friends with me from the west coast. She said she didn't like him and wasn’t enthusiastic about meeting him.  She left loving him   No one can say anything bad about ‘her Cam’ anymore
    • Agree about oline. They've tried their best to improve that area. But honestly, has it looked like the most expensive oline in the NFL to you? Not just with Bryce. With Dalton's one game where they almost got the old man killed.  Also YAC shouldn't always be hitting a guy in stride while he's running full speed. Pickens killed us after the catch and those weren't all hit-in-stride plays. I remember a play in Miami when a guy caught a 5 yards curl and took it like 30-40 yards to the house. We don't have that in Carolina. Horn might be the closest thing to that but he can't get significant PT for whatever reason. If Bryce keeps trusting his receivers to make plays, I think he'll become more consistent. Seemed like he only trusted TMac. And force feeding one receiver isn't sustainable. Defenses will start to blanket him and take him out of the game. And yeah, keep taking deep shots. I hate all that dink and dunk football. Hate it.
