Stroud is not Burrow (out of College at least) and it's a really unfair comparison for CJ. You're setting him up to fail if you think that he can produce anything like in the NFL.

Burrow threw for 60 TDs his Senior year (that's 19 more than Stroud as a Junior). He was utterly ridiculous in College - and both were surrounded by 'first day' NFL talent at the skill positions.

Really .. You know why it’s more of a unfair comparison..

CJ 3 years younger

CJ didn’t  have to transfer form OState

CJ produced faster and was a better player in college longer then Burrows who didn’t blow up until his 5th year in college..

vs

CJ putting up Hesiman numbers as a Sophomore

Burrows didn’t until he was a Senior at a different school..

So yeah you might be right..

CJ isn’t Burrows (he might be better) .. lol

Let me say this..

I Love Cam.. Cam is my favorite NFL player all time and will always be my QB..

But reality is Cam was the best athlete turned QB ever and most times he was the most dominant player on the field when he played and was healthy… But we still don’t have back to back winning seasons no Super Bowl and lost to a lot of unatheltic QB teams..

15-1. Superbowl was for Payton. Best team in football be damned.

I know this has been posted.. But CJ, Bryce and AR was in this.. Same Class.. CJ barley got a invite and was ranked low early in the competition.. CJ just kept grinding and won the whole thing.. Actually beat out Bryce for starter on the same team.. They both went on to college stardom.. Now they are battling for number 1 pick..

I disagree because he could be gotten without moving up (maybe a move to 6).

In that situation

Texans take Bryce

Indy take stroud

Then it's dealers choice on AR and Levis

It is a pretty sure thing that AR will go in the top 5.  He'll be the third QB off the board at worse. I'd be happy with any of them.  We had to move up to No. 1 just to ensure we get the player of choice.  Moving up to 3 would make no sense as we are at the mercy of other teams.  Moving up to 6 would only cost up draft choices and a good chance all 4 are gone. That would have been a dumb move.

My take on Richardson is that he probably has the highest ceiling of all the QBs.  We have a good coaching staff and a lot of good weapons to where he doesn't have to carry the team in year one. While it may take a year or so for him to get up to speed I believe he could be the best QB of this draft sooner than most think. Reich likes the RPO and Stroud and Richardson are best fit for that role.  Young running the RPO would put him at risk of getting destroyed on a running play so I think that is why Young is our 3rd choice.

I'd take Richardson but it's probably Stroud.   I wouldn't be shocked if we go AR15.

I think some people are underestimating how much Josh Allens rise has had an effect on the league. Every team wants to find the next guy like that. A qb with maxed out physical traits/ability thats able to harness everything together. Now you have a powerhouse of a QB that does it all....AR screams that more than anybody. Any team that needs a QB is going to consider him, and not just briefly....hard look.

Asked Trey Lance and the 49ers about trying to find the next Allen.. At some point the Allen thing might be a outlier and not the norm..

I didnt know Trey Lance was being compared to Allen....news to me. But anyway, yeah it may be a outlier and i dont think it can be a norm. Obviously, the guy you are looking at needs to have the similar traits for it to be possible. Im just noting what teams might be thinking.

Maybe. I'm always one of those guys that recognizes that QBs go high. I wouldn't be at all shocked if the qbs go 1,2,3 and then levis goes top 10. It's just the way the game is now. That said, I think ar is a three year project. He may be the best of them all in the end but he needs lots of work.

I watched about 6 of his games and see a guy who doesn't process well but is athletically a supreme talent. The other two though have him whipped on accuracy and decision making......for now at least. Those skills typically are harder to learn but I thought the same about the Buffalo qb.

    • Ok fair to judge only his starts.  But you do acknowledge that going from "he's waaaay above league average in a number of categories" to "here's a single stat where he's above league average (not "waaaay") and another where he is exactly at the league average" is a pretty significant backpedal, no?  I'm guessing he's probably in the ~10th range for completion percentage too if we're only looking at starts (I'm too lazy to isolate his starts and do the calculations), so I'll grant you that one too.  But I don't think completion percentage is all that meaningful as a standalone stat if it isn't bolstered by good TD%, Y/A, etc. On that note, for how much people like posting Passing Charts in here (*cough* CRA) - if you peep Shough's passing charts, he hasn't completed a single 20+ yard pass in the past 3 games combined.  His last one was in Week 13 against the Dolphins, which was a single pass of 24 yards.  I just want to be consistent in how we apply our standards - I think it's always been warranted to criticize Bryce for it (even dating back to his rookie season), but do we suddenly not care about that with Shough? And yeah I did acknowledge that Saints' fans have reason to be excited about him and complimented his poise, which is giving my props.  Still not sure I agree that he looks better than a "ton" of QBs nor do I think you or anyone have really demonstrated that.  I think you are generally one of the more reasonable level-headed posters which is why I'm confused at what I consider to be rather hyperbolic language about Shough.
    • I don't disagree with you, but want to point out that Tremble's strong suit has always been blocking. Case and point: on Horn's 25 yard run, he lays down not 1 but 2 nice blocks...and is looking for #3! https://www.panthers.com/video/jimmy-horn-jr-s-25-yard-run-gives-panthers-red-zone-access-on-first-drive
    • It is a popularity contest.  The selection does have meaning though. It is also 1 of the criteria that is considered for the HOF. The game does not have any significance. The team hasn't been to the playoffs in nearly a decade. That's why they don't get primetime national coverage. To the victors go the spoils.
