CJ Stroud Film Breakdown Megathread

Stroud still has a very good chance of being a solid starting QB if he lands in the right spot. The significance of the s2 will eventually fade to some degree as the sample size increases. No single test is a fail safe and a guarantee of success anyway.

Young may have scored high on that test but by no means does that guarantee he will be a star or SB caliber QB. I still believe Stroud will come out being a very good player for a QB needy team. To bad we aren't getting him though.

Yeah it's sad but the insinuation for some is Stroud is lacking intelligence and I think that's nonsense. For both QB's they are obviously great guys great teammates and they have quality football IQ. If Stroud puts in the work he can be just as good as Young and vice versa. I'm just getting to the point of being tired of seeing them pitted against each other. They're actually friends aren't they? It's an unfortunate situation to see CJ's character and draft stock being hit like this. I think it will motivate him more. Good luck to him regardless.

NFL models projected Young to go bust.  The reason: Young takes very deep drop back to see over the line but he does not have a quick release and need to step into his throws to generate power/zip.  With blitzes and against heavy pass rush, he projected to struggle big time.  With NFL being much faster and physical than college, he projected to be hit early and often.  NFL has removed model results from their website about a week ago.  The analysis said for Young to be successful in NFL, requires team to have top Offensive Tackles tandem from preventing EDGE and LBs to go around them.  Young had one of the best OL in college football the last 2 years.

Hey!  Nailed it lol

    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
    • Moton is a class act.
    • Sure, that is possible. That’s what, an extra 55 yards a game on average and 7 more TDs? What if he’s just 15th?  I imagine they would extend him in that situation due to the belief that he’ll keep trending up. maybe a 3 year contract to prove he can be top 10? Sounds like a Tepper plan.
