oy vey if he slips past 9

It could potentially make our trade up look unnecessary, depending on which QB you favor. But I'll contend that we can't make an apples to apples comparison to how the board will shake out next Thursday, with how it would've shaken out if we stayed at 9. We changed the whole game by moving up to 1, and that will send ripple affects throughout the entire first round, making it an entirely different prospect.

Thomas Davis has apparently jumped off the Richardson train...

Well he never said the panthers should draft AR, he said that’s who he thinks/hears they will draft. Even on that NFLN clip, I believe he said it should be young.

By thinks/hears I mean he heard ppl were enamored with AR in the building and based off of that, that’s who he thinks they will draft.

To me, this article is him saying who he feels they should draft based off his opinion.

What did he say? I'm not paying to read the Charlotte Observer 🤣

In this article he said he thinks young is the best and should be the pick.

TDs quote I am referring to was in this NFLN segment with Daniel Jeremiah, who by the way at that time, was saying something similar;

I figured it was a pipe dream we would get him. I think he will be a great player, whoever gets him will be happy.

i will say, guys like kiper and McShay have whiffed and whiffed bad many times. I get it, it’s part of their job, but sometimes they are full of poo.

Some may be hesitant with where his mechanics & accuracy is at, but man, if this kid hits with the right coaching combo, you've got it all.  The size, agility, speed, arm, legs, game breaking ability.

Unsure if he's gonna turn into some undeniable leader and SB caliber guy, but he does have that 1-3 year MVP-level stretch ceiling.  His sheer upside compared to the rest is just hard to ignore.

I believe Bryce has the elite gene, creates out of structure and unreal awareness and IQ, but Richardson does have some undeniable excitement.

Durabilities. Kyler has had a tough injury history for a QB and he has way more speed and escapability and the ability to get yards on the ground.

The size concerns were alleviated with his ability to get away and get tough yards.

AR is built for football, and everyone loves the guy but Bryce isn't. That's life.

Don't test fate. AR has the most potential and hasn't reached his ceiling yet.

Very hard for Bryce to get better, especially not being an elite athlete or having elite athletic traits in the NFL.

AR 2023! MAKE QBS 6'+AGAIN

I find it funny that these guys think they know what the Panthers will do, they don't but the hubris is delicious, especially if what they said about coach loving Anthony Richardson is true. It's basically between GM and who coach wants. I hope Reich doesn't back down because as they said in that clip if he hits he could be a homerun or a bust with the wrong staff.

The Panthers are actually the best landing spot for AR. They don't have to rush him.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
