I think a big factor is the exposure. Everyone who watches college football is aware of who QB’s Alabama. They are televised. They play in big games.

It certainly builds opinion.

Had Josh Allen QB’d in the SEC he’s probably not dropping out of the top 5 players in the draft.

There's so much exposure now with social media that while he may not have been on prime time as much, he wouldn't have gone unnoticed. Allen's big problem was accuracy. If he had played for Bama and still not been able to hit the broad side of a barn he would have still slid down in the draft.

Can someone ask the obvious question of “where does Stroud go if he’s not surrounded by 47382 first round wr and two of the top 4 tackles in this draft class”. No one asks this and it’s such a valid question.

 #1 like Joe Burrow?

With his weapons, Burrow produced the greatest college season. Won a Heisman, won a championship.

CJ…lost to his biggest rival in back 2 back years. No championships. No meaningful  individual accolades.

but hey, he beat Utah in a bowl once upon the time. Lmao

Damn that was a textbook counterpoint.

Strouds Oline and WRs have been much more elite at Ohio State so I don’t get the argument

Not an argument. Just a question.

I’ve very much been worried about Stroud’s supporting cast as well. I’ve brought that up a lot when discussing Corral over the year.

I guess at the end of the day, Young has physical deficiencies that Stroud doesn’t. For all we know, Stroud my have mental deficiencies that Young doesn’t.

So I wonder if people think Young’s brain would have him in #1 discussion if he didn’t have the spotlight at Bama. Spotlight helps every player, including Stroud…but being so slight of frame, and having a “good enough” arm, his ceiling seems limited.

I think Young is the perfect test if the saying “quarterback is 90% mental.”

And yes Young was a top recruit (like Clausen…I’m joking) but he’s a top recruit for college ball. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a top talent for the NFL.

Time will tell of course.

But Bryce Young did go to Alabama, and excelled.

Yes. But going to a top flight program and excelling doesn’t mean he’s an elite NFL prospect. It MAY mean that, but excelling as a QB at Alabama doesn’t by default mean that.

If he’s our pick I’m 100% behind him and excited because I like him…I just have some worries. That’s all.

And it’s not just Young…I don’t feel for any QB the way I felt for Cam in 2011. I would have been PISSED had we gone Locker or Gabbert.

This draft I’m kind of lukewarm about all these QB’s.

    • Dude you have no idea what you're talking about. Best place to live?  LMAO... that's your criteria...  Charlotte gets put all over those lists too... come on man... and those lists have zero to do with sports. I'm done after this bc I'm punching down intellectually here... The Panthers have been bad for 6 years now. You are obviously young and not overly educated based off the "dunks" you're putting out there that certainly are, so let me educate you today on the Panthers. The Panthers sold out for well over a decade straight. BOA has been as good an environment as there is when the team is good.  Fan support for the Panthers has been incredible when the team has even remotely reciprocated. The idea that Charlotte doesn't support the Panthers is utter BS. People in Raleigh have the biggest little brother syndrome of all time... Nobody outside of the Triangle cares about any of your "vaunted" sports team outside of Duke-UNC in basketball on a national scale. Sure, the Canes are great. But nationally, the WWE dwarfs the NHL in ratings. More people care about Cody Rhodes than Sebastian Aho... or anyone else in the NHL for that matter... I doubt less than 5% of anyone in this state outside of Raleigh even knows who that is... that's a knock on Aho who is a great player, it's just the NHL barely makes a ripple in the overall hierarchy of American sports. It's not in the same universe as the NFL or NBA no matter how badly you want to tell yourself otherwise. Raleigh is not a big-time sports city, no matter how much you want to scream into the abyss about it. Neither is Charlotte. But no one here is making such a nonsense argument... LOL it's good to be young and to be ignorant enough to be confidently wrong... WTF are you even on this board though since Charlotte is so beneath you? There is an actual discussion board on this very site for Raleigh sports since they are so superior...  Maybe it's bc I'm watching Idiocracy with my son, but your timing is perfect, my man... The dumbest among us have become the most confidence in their ignorance... God Bless America!!
    • You do know the biggest military base in the US is located just an hour from Raleigh in Fort Bragg right? Military families are family oriented. A hour drive to games is nothing compared to traveling 3 hours to Charlotte.   Cmon man there is nothing happening in Western Carolina other than Charlotte. I only go west for outdoor activities and some nature/mountain views.
    • Okay, who is coming. And how hard is it going to be to get tickets? I’m currently living in Germany a couple hours north of Munich. Happy to help facilitate a cheaper experience for help getting tickets lol.
