I get the sentiment, but I'd also be okay with it if we got good and the rest just continued to suck 😄

yeah i guess that would be ok too. but i just love a good rivalry. it makes it busy being a mod dealing with all the trash talking from other teams, but still i love it. i'd be happy either way.

I love good football.

That fact has made it hard to be a Panthers fan over the last few years 😣

I mean I guess it's possible Huston trades down. I have heard rumors floated that everyone wants to trade down but I've not heard any about another team wanting to trade up.

i don't think they trade the #2. they're keeping that one unless they trade to the colts.

it's that #12 that has me curious. i think that they use their 2nd pick for a QB and use the 1st pick for BPA. they can move up from 12 to say 8 so they get their QB. i don't know. i'm just getting ready for anything.

So basically, we get the guy we wanted after massively trading up while everybody else gets one by just kinda sitting there.

Not sure I like how this plays out for us...

...and I'm probably not alone.

If a team sits tight and waits for a supposed Franchise QB to hopefully drop to them, as opposed to trading up to get their guy, that doesn't inspire a lot of confidence about their belief in those prospects.  If you think a guy is a franchise QB, you don't sit and wait and hope that he drops...you go get him.

and Levis to the Colts just makes too much sense considering Irsay. i'm not budging on that one.

and i'm preparing myself for Stroud to the Falcons. Could you imagine us with Young, AR with the Bucs, and Stroud with the Falcons? That actually could be a lot of fun.

Reminds me of the old days when the NFCSouth had four great QBs competing and a new division winner each season. It was crazy but never ever boring.

If you listen the mouth breathers on the networks they will not need to. Apparently there will be only 2 taken in the top 10, maybe 3. They think CJ and AR may be there for them at 12 unless the Titans trade up for AR. I saw that predict somewhere this morning. It was probably someone's mock draft prediction.

It's actually being predicted in a lot of places.

The perception that this year's quarterback class isn't all that great is definitely out there.

(might even say it's prevalent)

I tend to agree.  It's better than last years crop but it's not ideal.  They all have flaws that will take time to overcome. They all have great attributes that could help them succeed. It will come down to which is more dedicated to being their best and his supporting cast. I'm just glad it's not up to me.

Not quite true...

Young has pretty much every quality that I prefer in a quarterback. The durability concerns scare me though.

That's why my preference is Stroud, but I'd also be pretty happy with Young as long as we can keep him upright.

That’s fair…I’m also concerned about the durability aspect but I just think beyond that he really doesn’t have any flaws so I’m willing to roll the dice. I also just think he’s a cut above all the other QBs…I’m not dogging out CJ I just think even with CJ he put out bad tape that BY simply doesn’t have. I’d be thrilled with CJ as well make no mistake but I believe we’re making the correct choice.

Breer isn't as in the business of doing mocks on a regular basis. He prefers to do just one close to the draft and vets his choices with personnel people.

What does he foresee for the quarterbacks? Obviously Bryce Young goes first overall to the Panthers because he's been saying that for a while.

The rest are listed below:

4. Colts - CJ Stroud

The Colts wind up getting CJ Stroud without moving up at all after the Texans and Cardinals take other positions. Mind you, Breer does believe the Cardinals could potentially deal their pick...to the nervous Colts. Same result.

12. Texans - Will Levis

Like the Colts, the Texans also get a quarterback without trading up. In this case it's Levis, who Breer acknowledges could also go to Indianapolis.

So whither Richardson?

19. Bucs - Anthony Richardson

To Tampa, who + having Baker Mayfield - can afford to sit him for a year while he adjusts to the NFL.

...

So basically, we get the guy we wanted after massively trading up while everybody else gets one by just kinda sitting there.

Everybody else get 'one' but not necessarily THE one. All indications are the Texans wanted Bryce, also. It may still work out for them but they aren't getting their first choice and we are. I'm okay with it.

There are a few who knock Young's arm strength, but that's not real high on my list of priorities.

But if we hadn’t traded up, we probably don’t get the guy we want so the fact they get who they want without trading up is irrelevant.

There is also a very good chance that the guy they wanted the most was the guy we took.

So I’m reality they didn’t get they guy they wanted by staying put, they got their second or third choice by staying put.

    • We get better unfortunately.
    • This^ My receivers coming out lack the coaching needed to play in the nfl. Very few schools run an nfl style offense. Most rookies will need a lot of coaching even more than before to learn a nfl system. It's the nature of the game in the last half decade or more. I've heard that mentioned by coaches on more than one occasion in past several years. That's why receivers coaches are more important than ever before.
