Are you saying that, that move didn't show very good pocket presence? Just trying to understand what you're saying.

I'm not saying that at all. Young has great presence and it will absolutely help him avoid hits. No point ignoring the fact he's small. It's reality. We bragged about Cam being bigger than the linebackers tackling him. Can't change the laws of physics

I missed today so about to check this out, he usually sneaks some vids and has the most detailed notes on actual plays

Interesting he's saying Eku Leota is literally 2 steps ahead of DJ Johnson on his snap reaction. I personally don't care that much if Johnson was a reach as long as Leota and Kobe Jones keep looking legit.

I'd be disappointed though, bc Johnson's potential is super exciting and I really liked the pick because of the size, the RAS and said potential...  but I agree, if Jones and Leota turn into gems it won't really matter how Johnson pans out - and it sounds like both Jones and Leota are making a lot of noise that they weren't expected to.

Yeah I'm not worried about Johnsons physical talent, he can be solid. More worried about the CB's than anything else on D at this point, Chark is cooking all the backups it seems like

Yeah, I haven't been able to follow as intently with news from TC day to day this year as I have been able to in years' past, but I agree from what I've been seeing.  I know they said Henderson is showing better for himself this TC, and from what I've read, it seems like Taylor is getting a lot of reps compared to previous years, so I'm interested to see how the CB depth chart is looking like right now, and I wonder if it's just that the offense is that good because Bryce has been so accurate and got up to speed so fast, or if the CBs are just that underwhelming?

Yeah Jets practice is going to be very interesting. Especially with Hard Knocks and national media. The practices will probably be more telling than the actual preseason game

Sounds like Cam Erving is getting worked over there on the right side. Otherwise it’s good to hear Bryce is having a good day and showing a little fire.

Also with the apparent emergence of Kobe Jones and Eku Leota…..I think we’re gonna see some “surprise” cuts in that edge room if the okay carries over to preseason.

Young finally understanding how bad Erving is. Welcome to the Panthers, buddy.

We already seen plenty of that.

I feel like cutting him would do more harm than good as he shouldn’t see the field but is by all accounts a great locker room guy. Just keep him around and pray he never starts.

Well none of us are in the locker room so we can't know how true any of that is. But I know that in a 17 game schedule praying a 2nd string OT doesn't see the field isn't likely to work out.

The truth is that he needs to be replaced next offseason.

Given how expensive our defense is about to be, we need to draft OL somewhat high every year.

    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
