Fair.

Thing is though, he's not necessarily on a team that has time to develop a rookie because they're gonna be busy developing that other rookie.

He’s worth keeping around for the season but he’s a QB that needs reps. The NFL as a whole needs a protected farm system.

Didn’t have a good game regarding ball placement, but he made a lot of good decisions with the ball, and didn’t turn it over. He led an inefficient TD drive, but it was a TD drive nonetheless, and he showed his running ability.

I still like what I see enough for him to be considered to develop as a backup. Dalton makes me feel that way even more.

That's fair. That's why I can't say he's getting cut with any surety. I was fairly certain that he would be the emergency QB until last night's performance, but that could still be the plan.

There are better backup options out there and always will be.

Which is exactly what I was thinking. There certainly are guys that are more ready to play right now (like...nah, I'm not gonna say it🤐), but the question is whether Corral's youth and potential will trump another possible backup's experience and ability to perform better at this moment.

In the NFL there are always backup QBs available that have significant starting experience. Corral isn’t ever going to have that.

We have had a lot of those long development project guys and we have never had one actually develop(at QB).

Is it worth investing multiple years and a roster spot to develop a solid 3rd string NfL QB? Or could you just sign one of those every year?

I will take the latter option

Who else are you giving his roster spot to? A crappy WR / CB who could play STs if required?

Well thats the question.   How much better is corral vs some other rando PS qb vs a guy that can at least play on special teams or be depth to a crap unit like the wr or corners?

I guess we will find out how fitt/reich look at it in a couple days.  I just truly dont see any value of keeping MC on the 53.  Try and stash him if you can and if not oh well its Youngs team anyway

Corral was pretty nonplussed when we drafted Young. His performance this preseason should tell him without a doubt that he's not ready. He should know that he's going to have to have to learn more and dig deeper to become proficient in this league. He should really welcome more time to improve because that's all he has really earned this preseason.

    • Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .
    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
