anyone trying to blame all the “bad things” on Rhule simply because he’s not here and fitterer is is being intellectually dishonest

Rhule played his hand in his push for Mayfield and the lack of practice work Corral got last season.

Fitterer spoke very glowingly of Corral. All the smoke points towards that being a Fitterer pick.

Rhule was the GM so he takes the heat. Now, that said, Scott has been the GM since early last season so we are now building a true profile about what Fitterer is. Hindsight could still prove to be very unkind to Scott, depending on the next couple of offseasons.

Rhule was on board with Corral until he got Baker. Some of you keep forgetting that the acquisition of Baker is what really made Rhule flip the script.

Pretty much...

It doesn't matter anyway because Fitterer has done things a little differently since Rhule was axed.

And again, that's how it works. That's why I've always said you have to evaluate tandems and braintrusts rather than just individuals.

In football, that's true of GMs and head coaches, quarterbacks and receivers, guards and tackles, etc. etc.

If you want a  Panthers example, just compare Rivera / Gettleman and Rivera / Hurney.

I was public enemy #1 when I mentioned trading for Justin Fields.

Funny how people ignore the lack of talent around a QB. Dude now throwing screens to DJ Moore and taking it to the house.

Get ready folks Fields will put the NFL on notice this year. He's the real deal!

We should have drafted Fields…but we have to be realistic.  As good as he is with Rhule and company he is probably no where.  Will say Stroud has a serious chance to be good but I stand by my prediction that Anthony Richardson will bust.  I hope not.  He has ridiculous talent but being thrown to the wolves this early is not a good development for him IMO

I totally agree here…Fitty has this habit of letting the draft board dictate his picks.  He can’t wait for a run of players and grab the #3 or #4 guy at a position.  He needs to be aggressive and grab the #1 guy if possible.  This trend worries me but as you said, time will tell.

The best draft strategy is this…take the best NFL talent regardless of position.  You can’t get cute, people in this league are to smart for that barring complete luck

We've got the right qb.  Whatever promise Fields had will be wasted in Chicago.  I feel about Bryce the same way I felt about Cam when we drafted them. They are a 1 off qb that set the leagueon fire. Young will make believers of everyone beforethe seasonis over. You heard it here first.

Actually, it doesn't work like that at all.

Two people don't have to be hired together to be in sync. Neither does being hired together guarantee that they will be.

Nor does anything about those circumstances prevent an owner from playing one guy against another, or choosing to blame one and absolve the other.

Everything you're talking about here is personality driven. And no employment arrangement, arrival circumstance or even prior connection can guarantee harmony or prevent conflict. if you doubt that, ask Jimmy Johnson.

The good news for us though is that Reich and Fitterer have by all accounts very similar personalities and approaches that help them work and play well together.

Frankly, the notion that two people have to be hired at the same time in order to be harmonious sounds kinda silly.

I’m not talking about being in sync, working well together or any of that.

literally nothing I am talking about is personality driven.  We aren’t having the same convo.

I’m talking about the predictable nature of deflecting blame via an unpaired coach/GM affords the owner.    I simply prefer it not be that way.  The problems are generally laid at the feet of the guy leaving and crazy mental gymnastics pulled for those left standing. We see that with Fitt now.  Seen with others prior.

So you just do a variation of what Tep does. Problem isn’t Rhule, it’s Hurney.  Problem isn’t Fitt, it’s Rhule.   My preference is to take that off the table.  Hire people together to do it and if they can’t move on.  That’s my preference.

your counter argument is arguing against things I’m not saying.  Can two dudes not hired together work well together? Yes.

Hurney should have been fired with Fox.  Rivera should have been a paired with his own GM.  And when Ron and company’s time was done you start clean. You can argue exceptions to everything.  But as a fan? Yeah, that’s what I want.

Yeah that was tough. To be fair Horn is pretty damn good he just needs to stay on the field!

Horn is becoming really close to total bust.  He has to stay healthy this season.  I don’t care how good he is on paper anymore

Yeah...not at all how it works in the real world.

Throw in too that there are plenty of situations where one guy is better at his role than the other. What you're advocating is the proverbial throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Under your logic, the Eagles should have fired Howie Roseman about three coaches ago. Yet during that span they've been to the Super Bowl twice.

Guess it's a good thing they don't listen to you 😕

I almost feel like we need to stash Bryce until we build up the offense.  He is the guy but damn he might get destroyed mentally with this offense. Our OL is sketchy at best
