Why? They are upset, because their demands are not met (disrespect). The team wants some more proof, that he will take the next step and he is worth what they demand.

I don't think I paintet a realistic scenario, but I am confident he will play and sign a contract with the Panthers.

As "If I can think it, it can happen" posts. I've seen worse.

How about a crazy thought? Both sides want to wait/ agreed to wait how the first game plays out. If he wrecks shop we will lean more towards his demand, of he is still only very good and situationally great, they meet more towards the front offices offer.

I believe Burns will be a long time Panther and he will experience much better years in the future of this team, than what he has to go trough on the past.

Let's bring them Birds down to earth!

Well, the first game is against the #3 rushing offense from last year and they only got better talent to run the ball.   It’s not really the type matchup for Burns to show his stuff.  It frankly is a matchup that plays into his weakness/liability.

Burns would have a bad team working for him to make a deal on the results of that

I’ll still be surprised if he plays with no deal.

My heart says yes. But my brain says no. I hope my heart wins, we win, and Burns plays well. Fingers Crossed.

I hope he plays because I want to see the dog in him. Let's see what he's made of when he's playing for something because the Panthers have played very few truly meaningful football games in his career and the one we had last year Burns went MIA. I want to see him come out and play like a man possessed. If he pouts and mails it in, just trade him because we found out he's not worth a cap crippling contract

We haven't played meaningful games because of Rhule and the QB situation.

Not sure why Burns is the scapegoat for the Bucs game. I remember our DB's kept getting burned deep by Evans. Burns wasn't the only player who didn't show up.

But Burns is the only one looking to become the 2nd highest paid at his position after the market was reset.

if you want that kind of money show up and show out when it matters most

I think it is a sitcom situation. Burns is top 10 at this. Yeah, but Tampa. Burns is top 10 in that. Yeah, but Tampa. It's almost a punch line anymore.

I think it’s been said plenty but about to turn into gameday and… it’s extremely deflating this fan base is focused on mismanagement of its front office and not the first game of a new era.

personally I have to blame tepper. It starts with him and the fact that we are here is pathetic on this franchise. Every move we’ve made said burns is an untouchable, yet we can’t come to a fair agreement for both parties

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
