Ah yeah, the ol eye test. Stats be dammed, I don't agree with them so I'm right. Facts are for losers right?

Alex Highsmith is better in most of those categories, much better against the run overall, and just got 17M/yr last month. So these facts show what a player with those numbers should get. Why should Burns get more?

1 year of production (7+ sacks) over 3 years as a pro vs 4 years in 4 years , Highsmith is an older player, has way less pressures and qb hits since being drafted compared to Burns in the same time period.

What does top 10 run stuff mean? Because he isn't top ten against the run. He's a liability against the run

He made up those numbers.  The last 4 years, Burns is #11 on the sack list, not 8.  Not to mention he’s played in more games than 7 of the 10 guys in front of him, yet is still trailing them.  His current 5th year option of 16M is good enough for top 10.  In reality, he’s being paid this year about what he’s worth.  Yeah that dude wants Bosa type money lol

ESPN has a run stop win rate stat?  A Panther made their top 10 for edge defenders but it wasn’t Burns. Gross Matos at 8.

First off he’s 11th in sacks over the last 4 years (since entering the league), and played more games than 7 of the 10 ahead of him.

Didn't say that was for all 4 years. That was last season stats.

He was behind Parsons, Garrett and Bosa in QB pressures and hurries last season. Just those 3 and 8th in sacks.

In 2021 he had 48 hurries and 37 pressures with 9 sacks.

Not top top ten in run stop win rate, run stuffs. Has nothing to do with win rate. Burns gets a lot of TFL which translates to run stuffs. Runs stop at 0 yards gained or less.

    • The panthers are such a trash organization at this point that all the huddle can do is argue about which panthers team is historically the worst…good times.
    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
