You don't trade that capital for the 2nd best guy.    And I see no evidence he can be even that.

I think his performances are right in line with previous top QB prospects in a rookie season who turned out to be franchise QBs.  Stroud and Cam have been the anomalies not the rule.

That said, giving up assets to not grab the top guy was an egregious error and heads should roll. However since the main force behind the sudden shift to draft Bryce was Tepper he can only really point the finger at himself

Do we know for sure Tepper was the push behind Bryce?  I mean, it seemed like our QB coach wanted Stroud but everyone else was all over BY.

The Teppers are the new Joneses. But at least Jerry knows how to draft. If theyre gonna keep making personnel decisions we are in for many more devastating, demoralizing seasons like this one. Trading mccaffrey, keeping burns, trading all our important draft resources over the next few years for a qb that they wanted and signing free agents who are not holding up their end of the bargain and hiring a coach who the game has passed by and is too stubborn to realize are crippling our franchise. We are an embarrassment, boring and unwatchable.

He and Nicole have to step away.

I definitely agree with this, I'm just curious where the Tepper narrative came from because the team pushed hard that Young was their target before the trade if they could get to 1, and they pushed he was always who they wanted.  Doesn't make it true ofc.

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
