Can we afford both Peppers and TD?

Both contracts have expired and both will want lots of $$$ - especially Pep. We know that it's going to cost a fortune to resign Pep. However we really need to resign TD too.

TD wants to be here and we are sure to resign him a nice offer - but not one that will break the bank like Pep.

The question is - can we resign both especially with Pep wanting to break the bank?

No cap means it would just be a matter of how much we are willing to spend.

If we've got the money to keep both, I'd keep both - but if we only have the money to keep one - I'd keep TD based on age.

I would hope we do all we can to keep both, but if TD gets the short end of the stick he wouldn't be the first great Panther LB to not get resigned.

Of course we can. TD had a great start to the season before his injury, but by no means has he earned top dollar yet. Pep gets top dollar, Davis simply gets paid very well.

The problem will be when both Williams and Stewart want top dollar.

James Anderson would be cheaper and he did a great job when TD went down. Peppers cant be replaced as easily. Keep Pep let TD walk though I would prefer to keep them both if possible.

Td will be a restricted free agent, we could give him a 1st round tender and would be on the hook for a little over 2 million. If we get a longterm deal done with Peppers we will have plenty of money to sign who we want and bring in a few free agents. No problem. Might even sign TD long term. Biggest issue will be how many signig bonuses can we afford in one year if we give Peppers 30 million. The debt cap for a team is something like 121 million and even if Pep's cap number is only 9 or 10 million, the whole signing bonus has to be paid when the contract is done.

I think you'll see the team tender Davis and Tag peppers with there not being a cap and teams having no idea on what will happen after next season and how the whole CBA will play out.

No worries on keeping both. Provided the CBA does not get extended...

Worst case scenario is that Davis will get a RFA tender on him, likely a first rounder. Pep gets the tag.

Best case scenario is that Pep signs a long term deal, effectively reducing his Cap numbers, giving us more wiggle room to extend TD.

Alternative scenario is that James Anderson will also be a RFA. If someone signs Davis to an offer sheet we have a decent back up and minimal price in his place.
