I’d say our issue is coaching.  Not sure how our OL went from top OL in NFL to dead last with the same people.  I know we switched from man to zone because that’s what Reich wanted.

I miss Ryan. He may have not been that agile at the Panthers point in his career but god damn. If that dude couldn’t read a defense, oh man.

That predictable snap count by us. Fug. Bryce shouldn’t be correcting OL and dealing with the play. Our OL should have had their own caller. And should.

If you don’t win in the trenches you don’t win football.

Holds true at every level after high school. Not always true in high school and below, but usually is.

But this ain't even about winning on the line. This is about getting your A$$ whipped all game long.

Obviously these guys aren’t playing well, but having to play out of the shotgun and pistol and telegraphing our offense as obvious passing plays it not helping.  There is no sense of misdirection by our offensive formations and teams know when we’re passing.  When pass rushers know they can pin their ears back it’s going to be even harder to block.

Tommy DeVito was sacked nine times yesterday.

His OL graded out even better despite that.

Justin Pugh (45.4)
John Michael Schmitz (51.3)
Ben Bredeson (52.7)
Andrew Thomas (71.1)
Tyre Phillips (62.1)

Average: 56.5

Ikem Ekwonu (56.9)
Chandler Zavala (29.8)
Bradley Bozeman (57.4)
Austin Corbett (38.2)
Taylor Moton (79.4)

Average: 52.3

They're both poo. But you can't deny the undrafted kid produced despite the circumstances.

Can you provide pass block grades and hurries, sacks, hits?

I'm watching the game and alot of those sacks are on Devito. Obviously not all, but so far I can put 2 of 4 on the QB.

Not at all. I'm just saying the 32nd-best OL, per usual, was this one.

Well at some point you have to ask tough questions like is part of our woes fitting the offense to Bryce Young's strengths. We're forcing everything into one predictable box and it can't all be because Frank Reich is the most incompetent coach in NFL history. When you're this bad you have to assess everything and everyone.

    • The aversion to tying up too much money in the ground game around when it’s what’s winning us games is crazy to me. I get letting Rico walk if you think he’s easily replaceable but I don’t see many people arguing that, just applying an arbitrary salary cap based on what we think RBs are currently worth. I’d rather be stuck with Hubbard as an overpaid backup (not the worst one to have, mind you) than lose out on the most productive player on the offense personally.
    • Why do people keep saying things like “it’s not Young’s fault we spent so much to draft him”? Who cares if it’s his fault?  Nobody is saying send him to jail or anything.  People aren’t talking about blame for the decision to draft him, they’re talking about how bad he is as a QB and how we’d be much better with even an average QB.  Pointing out that we sunk a lot of resources into drafting him isn’t invalidated because he didn’t make that decision himself. Doesn’t matter whose fault that was, he’s still not playing like a QB who was drafted at all, much less one that cost two firsts, two seconds and a #1 WR.
