So if you know what “consensus” means, explain your original post. Because, even by your recent self serving definition, one GM wanting Stroud over Young really has no bearing on whatever consensus there was or wasn’t.

There were quite a few folks who didn't had Bryce over CJ. Enough that IMO it wasn't not a consensus that Bryce was #1. If you disagree, that's fine. I won't call you a loser who just wants to be right for having a differing opinion on what boils down to semantics.

Most outlets had Bryce #1. To you it was enough to be a consensus. To me it wasn't. Especially considering how many bumped Bryce up when it became obvious he was going to be the pick. Ultimately these guys are trying to bail the draft. The closer you get to the draft the more they move toward trying to predict the draft vs. giving their opinions.

We're arguing over the semantics of a definition.

I mean we are showing "consensus" big boards that back up what we are saying.  You came in crowing about a former GM liking Stroud and acting like it was debunking anyone who said Bryce was ranked at the top QB before the draft.  That's just not really how it works...  It's a silly argument because it's irrelevant where they were projected or ranked before the draft.  Remember Mitch was drafted over Mahomes and people had him ranked higher.

I still preferred Stroud, but I was always ok with Young. Stroud was always the safer pick with a high ceiling. At worst he was a Goff with a Burrow ceiling.

Also I hope the S2 never makes an appearance again. Stroud hopefully ruined its credibility forever.

Also the S2 guy wasn't even selling it very well when he was doing press. Might as well test everyone to see who gets the highest score on photo hunt

I honestly thought Linville Gorge was a good guy, but more importantly, had great input and contributed a lot until this recent nonsense.

Just complete toxicity if you don't agree with what he thinks the groupthink should be...

I'm not sure if the abyss the franchise is in is the cause or what, but it is glaring what both he and unfortunately this board has devolved into...

I think the power went to his head. He definitely changed. He's also warning people for calling names but doing the same exact thing. Mods are above the rules, I guess.

I was just giving y'all poo.

We were taking Bryce #1. Everyone knew it. Draftniks like being right. A lot of folks moved Bryce to #1 as a result. Go back and look at big boards from around the conclusion of the college playoffs. It didn't start looking like something that one could argue as a consensus until it became a consensus that we were drafting Bryce Young.

The weird thing is, from what I remember prior to the draft, is Young wasn't the "consensus" until the S2 came out, not like Manning, Luck or Lawrence. There was always talk that all 3 of them, and even possibly Levis were in play at 1. Then the S2 and Purdy's results and what he's done in SF suddenly brought the value of that test to light as the leading metric to determine a QBs future success in the NFL, then everyone else fell to the wayside. Without the hype of the S2, I think we could be having a much different discussion.

I disagree, they loved Young even the prior year when he won Heisman was the last QB to beat UGA and took his team to the playoffs.  I think you are confusing the talking heads/analysts with the Huddle.  Most of us on the Huddle wanted Stroud.  Young was the media darling and they loved him.

Who have I called a name here? I've been a mod for years. What changed is that we traded up to draft a QB prospect that I was okay with but preferred other prospects over. That prospect has played very poorly. Many of us are frustrated about that and talk about it. Some folks want to pretend like it's not happening and blame anything and everything other than Bryce.

The offense is broken. I acknowledge that. But Bryce is part of that problem and a lot of y'all refuse to acknowledge that. The Dalton game demonstrated that IMO.

Only one of us has resorted to personal attacks. You've done that twice now. If you want to preach it, practice it.

Sure, snide remarks, creating “safe spaces”, calling people who disagree with you “the hope brigade” or whatever else. Let’s not pretend you’ve been some angel. You’ve been nothing but a pot stirrer now you’ve made a mess and you’re innocent huh. I’ll admit I shouldn’t call people losers on the internet. It’s dumb. Will you ever be honest or you gonna keep saying how genuine you were with your safe spaces thread and all this other crap?

That doesn’t count

I gave y'all a positive thread because the poll of people wanted it. I deleted a poo ton of posts out of that thread, gave temporary bans for posts on that thread, and gave a very legitimate effort to create a place for people who wanted to post positive takes without encountering what they interpreted as toxicity to have a place to go. And you want to mock me for it? Okay, but that's on you though. That says more about you than it does me.

If you don't believe me I don't care. But that's the god's honest truth.

    • It would be nice to see #9 prove people like this laughably wrong. That's why many Panthers fans myself included were wanting to see how much time he'd dedicated to his craft following the conclusion of the season but then he showed up and let everyone know he pretty much crawled under a rock. Somehow the Panthers social team though this was rather amusing after what we'd sacrificed for the rights to draft him It's interesting that we go from Levis being least desirable of the class and a complete and total meathead that would alienate himself from his teammates to being talked up as possibly emerging as one of the better young QB's entering the 2024 season. Man what a whirlwind the last 12 months have been for the people who fully bought the hype machine in the lead up to the 2023 NFL draft and did victory laps like they had their very own sports almanac from BTTF. Life comes at you fast folks.
    • You either need to do waaay more drugs or waaay less drugs, your current intake is not right. Sorry I can not advise on which path to take.
    • He's routinely a great watch.  Good content.  I like his optimism on Chubba in our scheme, allows us to bring in Brooks at an optimal pace relative to his recovery (who we got obviously to be our new guy, could become the focal point of this offense) The two news OGs will have no issue playing our offense coming from familiar schemes, one in Hunt being league top, is going to be huge for our running game more than anything.  I also liked him maintaining some optimism with Icky.   Seeing his page and commentary on our defense really puts in perspective how much turnover we have.  It should feel like a much different team (hopefully better) especially that front-7.  Jewell is going to be better than people expect, he was super unheralded for Denver and is just a smart closer who played against the Chiefs routinely well.
