CFB conference championship games

I'm just judging them on their last game. They struggled to beat Louisville in the ACC championship game. Am I wrong for thinking they would get blown out by a much more stronger team?

I just used the rivalry games as an example because that is when the QB who would be starting for FSU in the playoffs was playing, and they were pretty similar opponents and atmospheres, both on the road, and they were just a week ago. FSU looked better than Alabama. If we’re just going by last week alone, Bama should be #1, not 4. If we’re just going by who we “think” or “feel” is the best team regardless of record, then Georgia is in. So record matters, unless you’re FSU, conference matters, but only if you’re in the SEC, winning your conference championship matters, unless it’s the ACC, beginning of the season matters a lot if you’re Texas and not so much if you’re Bama. It’s just a poo show.

Not totally sure about that, but that was my first reaction as well.

Georgia vs. FSU will be interesting too.  The CFP committee will not want to see the Noles win that one.

That game is gonna be interesting. One one hand, I could see all the draftable kids sitting out because why not? We feel like we should be in the playoffs but we're not so fug it. On the other hand, I could see a bunch of them wanting to give one last giant middle finger to the committee by dominating the biggest bowl game match up not associated with the playoffs.

If I had a kid on one of those teams probably getting kicked in the top 3 rounds, I'd be telling him to sit. The middle finger ain't worth the financial risk. If they want you to play tell them to go find a poo ton of NIL money for you to make it worth it.

Here's the reality that people don't want to admit. All the P5 conferences are roughly equal as a whole. It really comes down to who has the best cream of the crop. The also rans are roughly equal. The SEC also rans just get a big artificial boost via conference affiliation.

Totally agree.

Bama got a nice boost from Georgia being a very good team and to a lesser extent LSU and Ole Miss being pretty solid as well.

Washington same deal with Oregon being a top 10 team and Oregon State and Utah being decent.  I guess also having USC, UCLA, and Arizona all being mid helped too when they are all playing each other.

Anyways, as John Fox always said "it is what it is."

This is 100% where I’m at.  The rules change depending on what our desired outcome is.

Georgia should be in and Michigan/Washington out if it’s about “the 4 best teams” according to what experts “think”.

Georgia would beat Michigan, Washington, Texas, Florida State, and possibly Alabama.

They're not in the final Top-4?

Consistency, sure.

aside from Florida st whom most would agree without their starting QB that Georgia would beat, which literally is the point, all of those games would be toss ups

There was no good answer here but they were consistent with the philosophy they’ve traditionally used, which is all you can really ask. idk why people here are struggling to come so hard to come to terms with it. Without their starting QB, Florida st was not one of the best four teams-and they proved that while Texas and Alabama won convincingly.

it seems most would be okay with defying the established norm and general trust in the system to stick it to the school they don’t like, which is a great little commentary on people as a whole.

I’d be pretty confident if I was #4 FSU playing #1 Michigan, just saying.

I'll take that bet. Oregon by at least 35.

DO NOT DO THAT.

Most of Oregon’s players will be sitting out and Liberty has one of the best dual threat QB’s in the country regardless of conference. Kaidon Salter was a top 150 recruit out of Texas that is only at Liberty because he got kicked out of Tennessee. I imagine he’ll hit the portal and head to a P5 school after the year is over.

This is a recipe for a G5 upset.

I could see FSU wanting to prove a point and beating the breaks off Liberty if they got matched up together, Oregon on the other hand won’t give a poo.

They’ll keep it within 35, that’s guaranteed. If you take that bet you are giving away money.

They literally beat the NMSU team (twice) that beat the poo out of Auburn who nearly upset #4 Alabama.

Giving 35 points to a team that won’t play half their players against a team that has an elite QB and will be playing their biggest game in school history is fugging dumb lol.

I’m telling you that if you put money on that then you are losing it lol.

And it has nothing to do with Liberty, more to do with Oregon.

Yeah, it's not gonna be a fair fight. No one at Oregon gives a fug about playing Liberty but for Liberty this is a game they'll be telling their grandkids about. This bowl draw is a massive letdown for Oregon after being a playoff contender with a Heisman hopeful QB.

Speaking of blowouts.

RIP any FSU defenders after that game.

You may be right as Georgia's D should completely shut down FSU's offense and turn them over as well.

The interesting part of it all will be if any key players from Georgia or FSU decide to sit it out.  FSU's defense could keep them in the game if some Georgia players decide to sit out and FSU players don't.  They'll have to have their QB be a game manager only though.
