It doesn't happen because of the chance to win the natty.  Only fringe roster guys will transfer when the portal window opens but it’s like players that aren't playing anyways.  CFP disincentivized the Bowl games, no matter how you rotate them into the playoff format if they aren't a playoff game they are virtually worthless. Players will opt out/transfer etc etc and not think twice about it.

Yeah there’s more to it, we’re talking about first round picks.

It's because they're Georgia and Alabama. SEC has fug all to do with it. The rest of the SEC just rides their coattails to claim superiority by proxy.

The SEC has to play those guys and the games are much more competitive at the end of the day. They at least belong in the same conference as those 2 powerhouses.

Outside of the conference elite the rest of the SEC is just run of the mill P5 football teams.

I don't buy their argument of "We get our asses kicked by those guys every year and that makes us better than you by association! We've lost to Alabama for 17 straight years so take that!" GTFO. They don't fair much better in our of conference play against other P5 competition. They're just not that good.

Yeah because Stetson Bennett is a future HOFer

Doesn't matter what he is in the NFL. He was a damn good college QB. Travis from FSU doesn't project well to the NFL either but he was a damn good college QB too. Not every good college player projects well to the NFL. It doesn't make them any less of a college player.

Regular season matchup are far more relevant than non-playoff bowl game matchups with the opt-outs. It is what it is. The bowls are dead.

I've watch 0 bowl games outside of the playoffs for probably the last 5 years. Fans don't go to them either. Wasn't the mayo bowl mostly empty when unc got boat raced?

Yup it's a season long race to the CFP.. Once your team is on the outside looking in it's time to prepare for your future. If you are draft eligible, come along for the gifts and media time and ride the pine and leave your draft stock and health intact.

    • I am not really willing to cut XL slack on the trajectory of the pass. In fact for a likely 50/50 result Bryce’s rainbows seem like they would be easier to come down with. I am picturing Russell Wilson’s punts that he was so lucky with so often.  That is what I pictured it looking like with him and Bryce.    You don’t have to be that close to the OB for that to work though. Which Bryce seems to not execute, he is often right on that line or over it.    Seems like it couldn’t be that damned hard to make your angle a little less severe when throwing a deeper ball to the outside. But it has been.    As to XL, I never had it out for him but I have eyes. He deserves to be demoted.
    • You have to work for davis and your best player on defense wants out. You're also very clearly the worst team in the best division in the afc
    • My first reaction is the mental image of a Cam fastball which surely would make it more difficult. Vs a Bryce cream puff toss. I do think in that situation Bryce’s ball is easier to handle if it is not perfect.  I don’t see the need to die on the it bad pass good pass hill, but do not think Bryce threw him a gimme, at the least.
