Other footnotes:

- Scott is likely gone

- Dan Morgan has internal support to replace Scott once he is fired.

Will Dan Morgan stand up to Tepper? That’s all I give a poo about from our GM until we get a real team president.

For those who don't want to click the X link to see the article:

CAROLINA PANTERS: Panthers owner David Tepper already has fired head coach Frank Reich and some of his assistant coaches. Many now expect that general manager Scott Fitterer will be next, according to league sources.

Tepper has retained a search firm to help him guide his franchise for the future. Should he fire Fitterer, Tepper then would have a clean slate to offer a prospective head coach and GM, though Panthers assistant GM Dan Morgan also has support within the organization, according to sources.

Whoever takes over, this team does have issues it must overcome. Carolina traded its 2024 first-round draft pick -- which became the No. 1 overall selection -- to the Chicago Bears last year to be able to draft Bryce Young, who has endured a difficult rookie season.

The Panthers are missing other offensive playmakers and have a shaky offensive line that they need to restore and rebuild. Tepper is ready and willing to spend, but there are major holes and concerns to address.

Wording is a lil different from the OP. "retained a search firm?" So it's the same one from last year that got us Frank Reich?

Well it was kind of implied that the search firm would be helping him in general so I’d assume that means HC and GM hires.

Not gonna get too excited till I see Scott gone 100%. I will say though, Tepper hiring a search firm and not going into this search with a conglomerateof people already in the building or just doing it by himself is the type of growth I was hoping to see from him this offseason. Could be a positive step in the right directed.

Why do I get this feeling that David Tepper will still find a way to screw this up?

I presume Tepper will be presented a list to choose from and his "committee" of 3 in-house will make the call.

This does little to instill confidence that much will change with the FO.

Thats good as it means Nicole may not have any input on new head coach. Now if Tepper will just get his drunk drink throwing ass out the way we may get a decent hire if any good coach has any desire to come here.

On a side note, I would consider Dan Morgan to replace Fitt. but also interview many others as well. Not Tepper interview but someone with actual football knowledge and a football brain interview new GM candidates.

Remember when Dan Morgan was here and a few board big mouths had to become key board warriors and say rude poo things to him that their obnoxious chunky butts wouldn't have the courage to say to his face so he left? If any of you are still here that talked that smack to him I still think you are pathetic and cowards knowing damn well you would have kept your mouths shut and said nothing in person. Losers

I mean the fact that there’s a search firm at all is different from last year. The last two coaching searches, Tepper never employed a search firm and opted for a group of people inside the building to help him:

Last year its was reportedly: Scott, Dan, Kristi Coleman (Team President), himself and Nicole (and maybe Samir I don’t remember)

For the Matt Rhule year it was just Tepper and Hurney.

I'm not sure what kind of GM Morgan would be but given the two choices I would pick him over Fitterer. I prefer he be giving him advice over Scott.

Did anyone catch Morgan telling Scott to be patient on the Johnson pick during the draft night recording? Fitterer was freaking out that he might not get a pass rusher. I found that informative myself.

Ah I mustve misremembered;  I thought we had one last time. I still find that wording strange as "retained" would imply the firm was already being contracted previously. But then again the 2nd word of the passage is a typo so I could just be reading too much into awkward wording.

To retain someone can also mean to secure their services with an upfront payment.

It’s another case of our cumbersome language giving a single word multiple definitions. Worse when more than one of the definitions could apply to the context.
