So the Falcons - a divisional rival - have interviewed:

Baltimore Ravens Defensive Coordinator Mike Macdonald
Cincinnati Bengals Offensive Coordinator Brian Callahan
San Francisco 49ers Defensive Coordinator Steve Wilks
Carolina Panthers Defensive Coordinator Ejiro Evero
Baltimore Ravens Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Line Coach Anthony Weaver
Former New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick
University of Michigan Head Coach Jim Harbaugh

 

Meanwhile, we have interviewed:

HC Chris Tabor

DC Ejiro Evero

Ravens OC Todd Monken

Ravens DC Mike Macdonald

 

What the actual (*@$ are we doing?  Our HC has been gone since mid-season.  The Falcons started their search less than two weeks ago.

We don't even want to have a conversation with Harbaugh or Belichick?  I'm truly baffled.  Every time you think we've hit rock bottom, along comes Tupperware with his pickaxe and chisels us down another few feet.

I think being tight lipped is definitely a positive change.  Not a great thing for us as fans who like hearing everything going on behind the scenes but I think from an organizational standpoint its a definite positive and will hopefully help drive out the circus atmosphere a bit.

Not all of them, apparently people who aren't employed in the NFL can be secret, but yeah they want to publicize interviews and we have. I guess I mean we don't know what the team is thinking. Lots of random picks for our next coach like Moore being betting favorite and the ESPN article giving us Callahan. No one knows anything about our search other than us loving Ben Johnson.

If I am not mistaken, haven't all of our interviews been Zoom sessions?  Not sure if that is the norm, but in my experience, Zoom interviews are screening interviews before setting up the serious interviews.

I think if we do end up interviewing a Harbaugh or Belichick type, we'll find out just like we found out about the Frank Smith interview last night - an out of the blue tweet from the official team account.

All of our interviews so far are with candidates that are currently employed by teams so we can only do Zoom interviews at this stage. In-person interviews with currently employed coaches can't start until after Sunday.

unless i'm mistaken (quite possible, fwiw) no one can have in person interviews until the 22nd.

      He is a WR 1. Sean McVey was right to covet him.  Glad he won't be suiting up against us Saturday.

      OSU runs a base 4-2-5 with Sonny playing in the middle lb and Arvel Reese playing the weak side lb (Columbus Dispatch).  Arvell Reese seems more like the versatile lb who can play edge too.  I think both will be gone by our pick so we would need to look at the UGA and Texas off ball lb's.  If Styles is there at 19 take him as quick as you did Tet; if not, think about trading back to get one of the other guys (UGA or Texas).  I feel like this is a four deep ILB class. I feel like we won't be looking at a quality Edge at 19 either (Texas Tech guy). Trading back so we can address ILB, Edge, and Oline with picks in the first two rounds would be great.  Not really wild about the free agent market for Edge and ILB as the best ones are pretty old.

      also, draft position doesn't mean anything once you make it to the NFL.  Jalen Coker is legit.   Now, he might not of been healthy every game but as of right now.....there is really zero reason this offense is bottom of the league.  We got the OL.  We got the RBs and we got the WRs to be a pretty decent offense.  We just need someone putting the ball where it needs to be.
