So, Burns wasn't worth 30 million a year, but we should have gotten 2 first rounds picks?  Both can't be true.

I knew he'd get paid. It's just hiw the NFL works.

Oh, and now we have zero pass rush.

Should we have taken the 2 firsts from the Rams, yes, that being said Fitterer didn't and is no longer a part of the team plus Burns didn't really perform up to the standard. His play last season wasn't worth 30 Million and of course it also ended up hurting what we could potentially get for him. Personally, I wanted both their 2nd rounders but I'll take what we got and be done with his contract talk headache.

We can bitch and moan about the trade that never happened and things aren't going to change.

I would venture to say this was probably our best offer for Burns. It didn't help much with the tweet a couple of days ago saying Burns was worth on a 3rd.

It frees up 24 million and hopefully we find a DE that will make this loss less of a sting. I can't remember his name but there is an edge rusher from Dallas that played well last year and is on the market. Maybe Morgan has his eyes on him.

One other thing about this trade that should be taken into consideration.  That's what Morgan does with the 24 million we just freed up.

I like the deal for us. What are the Giants thinking paying him that LMAOOO that fanbase will hate him by week 3

I give it about to week 3 until Panthers fans realize that any team will score 30+ on us.

To all the people saying we will guaranteed get at least a first for burns, here is me saying I told you so...

The fact many of us thought we would get a first rounder + either a somewhat good player or a 3rd/4th rounder was even more foolish.

Good for Burns though - he found a team foolish enough to give him a crazy contract.

The issue is *IF* you are going to turn down that offer, you must sign him long term. PERIOD.

You go to the agent and if its not going to happen, take the haul and use the cap space on his replacement. Reddick went for 3 years 45million and put up better #s.

Wah wah wah.

Shoulda woulda coulda....

Nobody whom was part of the team wanted Burns gone.

Regardless of how you feel he's worth/not worth, NFL economics doesn't give a damn what you think.

He just signed a deal 30 million a year.  So in the eyes of the NFL, that is what he's valued at.

Belly ache all you want to. Blame everyone for all I care. This isn't madden, and never will be.

Its crazy because it doesn't feel like the Giants are 'one piece away' or anything. They still need a QB. This is a CPU in Madden type of move for them.

Lmao, maybe read what I said again. I'm perfectly FINE that we traded him for what we could get for him. Like I said I'd have liked have got their 2 2nd's but I'll deal with the 2nd and next years 5th AND get our 24 million back from his Franchise Tag. I'm fine with trading him because he didn't perform up to what he wanted us to pay him and we atleast got something instead of hanging on just to get nothing yet again

    • A team should always be putting at least one or two draft picks in at tackle and guard each season. Those guys just don't last nearly long enough and those that do get very, very expensive. In our situation, we need a little more time to see what the Icky injury works itself out to. Njiman performed really well out there and if this injury lingers into the next season, then he might do well enough there to hold the line for the team. Or we could draft early if there is a stud LOT in the draft when our spot comes along.  Honestly, we may be looking at replacing both LT and RT this season at this point. Moton is getting long in the tooth and while he deserves a shot to go for a playoff run with this team, I don't know whether we will really see him come back next season yet. It's still so darned early in all of this to say.
    • Because we had a ton of things go our way this year and made the playoffs with a -70 point differential.  This year was the outlier.  Regression to the mean is unavoidable.  So the team will have to significantly improve to beat 8 wins next year.
    • One thing I noticed in this game (and I say this as the biggest of Bryce Young haters) is that Bryce did do a solid job of throwing into voids in this game, and leading receivers on crossers.  There were a few times where I was thinking "where the hell is he throwing it" only for a receiver to appear out of nowhere and catch it in stride.  Mike McDaniel might be a guy that can squeeze a little bit of production out of the otherwise ghastly Bryce Young. His offenses heavily feature that style of passing game.  I've heard Idzik is drawing interest from other teams.  If so, bringing McDaniel in at OC would be a stellar move.  I know it'll never happen, but fun to think about.
