Space eater isn't our biggest need. But I see a value to good to pass up after his boneheaded DUI during the draft process. I assume this moves him completely out of the second round maybe pushed into the 4th. I would be hard pressed to not pull the trigger in the 3rd round somewhere.  At 6'4 366 I would love to insert him day one and just really be done with Shy tuttle who is just a jag. This guy would be an upgrade and one small mistake of partying to hard doesn't indicate a everyday problem. This kid can't be blocked 1 on 1 and just allowed texas to stop the run of his strength. he bats down a ton of passes and i would consider him a value getting a almost first round talent that late in the draft. what say you?

Anyone can make a mistake and there's no better story than a redemption one. Still you've got to really look into who this kid is and what kind of man he'll be once he has a ton of money piled in front of him.

Character really does matter, especially in this day. If the DUI was a one time situation, then snag him as he falls. If there's even a hint that the DUI just happened to be the first time he was caught, then let him go and be someone else's headache.

From the numerous draft profiles I have read since the DUI, said DUI was not surprising to scouts in the least.

3rd round would be worth a gamble depending on the board. We have to nail the 1st 2 picks though, which I have no confidence in us doing.

Third (65) is too high for him, imo.  Maybe 101.  However, while some are saying "he needs a second chance" and I believe that because I did as well, sometimes you give a kid like that $2m per year and you know what he does with it.  I would need to know where his head is right now, and the recent DWI is not a good sign.  Is he a "dawg?"  I would not think so.

Changing my tune--I would probably take him off my board.  MAYBE if we were a good team and there were strong, established leaders, but the leadership on the panthers (Thompson, Brown, Moton, in my view) is not vocal.  He needs a Ray Lewis to put the fear in him.

When young people are struggling with commitment and maturity, throwing a LOT of money at them is rarely going to help with the situation.

Eh....that can happen but also bring in a professional situation can help.

College football is a pretty bad about developing players in terms of football or maturing them as adults.

    • It's a QB driven league, which means that all of the parts surrounding the QB have to be in order. No OL? QB isn't going to have time to throw or be able to hand it off. No weapons? Won't matter how well they play, can't catch it for them. Bad coaching? They're not the ones designing and calling plays. Football is one of the ultimate team sports. All 11 players need to be in sync rather than one player being dominant (imo). Hell, even with Tom Brady, not a single one of his rings came without a top-10 defense on the other side of the ball or a top-10 OL in front of him. I can understand people having lost patience with Bryce, especially starting off on the wrong foot for the third season in a row. That's not an issue. The issue I have is with folks being intentionally misleading and attempting to tell other posters what they're not allowed to talk about. Considering how often Red has claimed others have done this to him it is interesting at best, disingenuous at worst for him to turn around and do the same.
    • Sir. You have been shouting down any and all valid skepticism and criticism of our #1 overall pick for 2+ years running. You spent all last spring running cover for him and complaining about derails and toxicity only for us to open the season with back to back blowout losses largely contributed by Bryce Young's abysmal play. You have engaged in the exact same formula this spring. You've spent the last two months rage pooing my posts like an angry ten year old even while you've had me on ignore just for speaking the truth about this QB room and our offense. We opened the season with yet another blowout loss this time to a previously 4 win team. And here you are still trying to play the victim while weaponizing the reactions. Any suggestion of you being victimized by anyone else here is a complete and utter farce. You know it. I know it. Have yourself a great day.
    • If he went to Clemson he would be off the board. Still hard to believe they have never drafted a Clemson player.
