Donnelly thinks they reached, but says D n D are trying to create an old school Panthers team: defense, running the ball, and a QB that does just enough to help get the win.

In other words, Foxball is back.

Yeah people are not grasping this. Just because Canales is a younger coach it doesn't mean he's some super creative offensive mind. He wants to basically play Fox/Rivera style football. He alludes to it in pressers all the time. Although running zone instead of power which I'm personally not a fan of

Didn’t we used to run zone with Fox and Stephen Davis or was it later?

Annyway, I think Canales is probably well versed in more than one offensive school, but has decided to break it down and get the training wheels out.

I don’t think it will look like Dan Henning (who I liked) when we do throw. I’m looking forward to seeing the twists he comes up with.

if the game plan is to simply run the ball to make young a game manager then yeah we are truly fuged on so many levels, I gotta think that is all coach speak and he has a modern day nfl offense planned.

I mean run first and get the ball out in 2.7 seconds...

If our new offensive identity is run first in any way shape or form in a league that is laughably skewed toward passing just go ahead and figure out which QB we want in the draft next year.

I think he was zone to start last year and the O was horrible.  Think they shifted and it went to okay.

But yeah, his O last year was very Fox/Delhomme-ish,   Which big picture might make even less since then Frank for Bryce.  It’s lives off the deeper shots off run

He's not going to be Fox ball. It will be modern-day running game. Steve Wilks was Fox ball. I would think it would lean more towards a Shanahan style than a Fox staple. He's so green it's hard to know who's playbook he will pull from.

Yep.  Hainsey, Stinnie and Mauch were absolutely awful in run blocking last year so it's really hard to see how effective DC's offense will be with an even average run game.   Just hard to tell but the passing game started to click down the stretch.  Will be interesting to see.  Could be more SEA esque given the personnel in Tampa not really showing it at full effectiveness.

I mean, his O is literally on film from last year.  They stubbornly ran the  ball mediocrely and then had Baker chuck it downfield off that.

He is more John Fox than Mike Shannahan.

Frank had no secret offense.  Neither likely does Canales.

I want to believe he is a wonder kid play caller, but godalmighty there are a ton of red flags going against this.   I truly would like to know what we were the only interview he got.  Nobody else thought he was worthy to simply bring in and listen to what he has to say especially since he is a supposed qb and wr whisperer

It’s just modern day Foxball with a heavy dose of 11 personnel IMO.

and I think what really makes it modern day Foxball. is how they pass off it.   Which is chunk plays downfield.

and Canales #1 pick is the perfect fit for what he did in Tampa.  I mean, no WR in the draft probably is a better fit for that brand of ball.

    • I saw that Hurley got a big offer from Kentucky that was worth as much or a million less than the Lakers' offer. He'd have less games, work, and not as many egos to handle if he stayed in college.
    • My mom has been on medicare for five years or so now. It gets worse over time and they pay less each year as they shift medicines from one tier to another. She has an inhaler and they started making her copay higher than what they paid last year. Thankfully, the local pharmacy she uses started giving her the generic version for less than her copay as the price for the name brand version went up.
