it wasn't popular in real time to criticize the Double Trouble stuff.   Only after.

Generally in real time, most things are supported overall.

The flaw in Hurney's team building plan was to not keep draft a RB before it was time to pay that second contract. He seemed to do that with every position but LB. Oys was as if he hit on a player he paid them regardless of position and said I'm good until the wheels fell off.  He hit on 3 or 4 in a row and wanted to pay them all. Doofus could have let each one walk and kept drafting them. He had a knack for it for a while. Granted they were 1st rounders mostly. I think Deshaun might have been in the second. Davis was a FA but still, the goober could pick a winner with RB's.

ACL tears are one of the most common and simple ortho procedures. A total tear is even easier to fix. If it's frayed or ruptured or whatever you have to put this synthetic mesh around it to protect it, but if it's just straight torn the replacement is just a strong as the original. We take a tendon from the thight, remove the damaged ACL, and just basically string the new ligament through the hole. ACL kinda just goes through the middle of the knee and keeps it together for stability.

They used to be horrific because they had to cut the knee open and do substantial damage to the bone. People were laid up for 12 weeks while the damage the surgery did heals. But now there is so little damage relatively, and the procedure has been nailed down so well, that the biggest thing is just waiting for the incisions to heal and getting used to the knee and rebuilding all that strength.

like i can't exaggerate how simple this procedure it. The medical device reps literally are in charge of it, and just use a laser pointer to point out what piece goes where. Everyone thinks they have the best orthopedic surgeon in the country. Everyone always goes to "the best knee guy in town" or whatever. What none of them realize is more often than not the PA is opening, closing, and sometimes doing most of the procedure.

Like there's some random dude in central tennessee who thinks he had the best surgeon in the state do his acl repair which actually it was me on my surgery rotation.

all these years later, I knew I would figure this out one day.  Something always seemed off that cloudy day in central Tenn for me. Now I know why I it looks like I'm doing the stanky leg dance when I walk down the street.

Were you tripping balls during the procedure? 😂

Can't wait till we pay him 100 million dollars then trade him off for scraps only to be stuck eating a ton of dead money then use all those picks to draft a 37 year old pass rusher that can't rush

Ah.  Dumbshittery.

This is good stuff.  I will add that he was supposedly under the care of the Cowboys' doc and Jerry Jones wanted Brooks--so he must have a glowing endorsement in terms of recovery.

Maybe someday. I was never a fan of giving a RB a second contract.

As long as he fully recovers from his ACL, if Brooks is performing, he's a PERFECT candidate for a 2nd contract

Most elite NFL RBs were 2 year starters in college, if not 3 or even 4, but because of the guys he was stuck behind, Brooks only has 1 season of wear and tear on him so far.

Combine that with him hopefully having a lighter workload this year while he's still getting back to 100%, he shouldn't have too many miles on his legs when it's time for a 2nd contract for him.

Brooks had 1,740 yards on 263 touches (238 carries and 25 catches)... in his entire college career

McCaffrey had 3,864 yards on 434 touches (337 carries, 45 catches, 15 PR, and 37 KR) in his Sophomore year alone.

CMC had 6,333 yards on 821 touches in his 3 year college career... it's going to take Brooks multiple NFL seasons to even get to the number of touches/hits that CMC took in college alone.

I also think this is why the team was okay with drafting him, as if he pans out, he's MUCH more likely to hold up for a full 2nd contract than most other elite NFL RB prospects.

He has to produce on the field first. Not going to worry about a 2nd contract before he plays a down with us. I hope that they keep the stable fresh by draft a RB every other draft at least. Makes second contract negotiations much easier.

Well of course he has to produce first, but you can say that about any draft pick.

It's just that I'm more on board with us taking an RB with that kind of collegiate workload than I would be someone who had a CMC type of workload in college.

Because like you, in most cases, I don't love giving a big second contract to an RB, but I think he has a better chance at lasting through a 2nd contract given the minimal wear and tear on him compared to most elite RB prospects.

yeah, Sanders just highlights how important OL is....and pretty much supports the narrative that largely if you solve OL issue you solve your run issues.  The is no shortage of RBs that can run behind actual good OL play.

Sanders was running through huge holes in Philly.  And was basically league average once he saw contact back there.

I mean, yeah, a CMC or Adrian Peterson is nice.  But largely I think teams should just focus on the OL.

    • If Horn stays healthy then Evero and the defense should be able to keep us in majority of the games this year. It'll all depend on how much Bryce and the offense improves. The main goal this year for us is to be playing competitive and meaningful football after thanksgiving.
