I wouldn't, but a lot of the Ball fanboys would.

Ball for Brandon Ingram?

He's from NC and that's probably the only other impact player we can get for a injury prone LaMelo Ball right now. Otherwise it's likely we keep Ball.

I know it’s not a basketball stat, but Melo has the #12 selling jersey in the NBA.  (#1 actually where I’m from in MD).  That’s ahead of Dame, Donovan Mitchell, Joker, KAT, Klay, Jimmy Buckets, Ant, SGA, and Kyrie amongst many many others.

A small market team with the bleak history we have, you don’t trade a young popular star like that.

If we put a reasonably competitive team on the court, Melo is the type that can RECRUIT another star or two.  Superstars that can recruit other superstars don’t land in Charlotte very often.  And the current NBA is all about recruiting that Big 3.

Sorry that I have not followed the NBA like years ago.

Just felt like even form afar, its a good time to part ways with Ball. Miller seems ready and willing. Ball should still have enough value for a good offer as well. I box-score watch them off and on, seeing DNP over the last two years next to him followed along  with weak lines when healthy(he did have one GREAT week of numbers). I can not pin point the time, just feels like Ball is no longer the guy to lead the hornets into future success. Is this wrong?

Yeah but name four 1st rounders we’ve HIT on in the past 10 years.  Not including Ball.

NBA 1st Round draft is so different than NFL…when you hit you’re super fortunate / lucky and you gotta roll with it….

We gotta roll with LaMelo / Miller / Miles and I’m 100% cool with that.

New staff, new ownership, new front office. Don’t think we can put the past on them.

I 100% called the T-Wolves before this playoff series and that’s the path we have to hope for.

T-Wolves and OKC could easily be the path for Charlotte. Both small markets and both could win it all this year.

Brandon Miller, LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges, Mark Williams…and a free-agent superstar could make a legit run in a couple years.

Don't give up on the young guys now, this is why you initiated the rebuild.

If the Hornets don't win the lottery, I would like to see them trade down. They should target some of the teams that have any excess of talent. Indiana,Sacramento,OKC, NO teams like that have some  good young talent sitting on the bench that could help the Hornets immediately. I like the hire. Read somewhere he may try and lure Darvin Ham here as his lead assistant since they have history together.

We have more depth then a lot of playoff teams. Our pieces aren't bad they just need to develop and actually play

It would be nice to be excited for the Hornets again!! Haven’t been excited we got the name back from New Orleans !! We left to New Orleans when we were getting good!! Been garbage since!! I don’t like claiming other teams they suck too like zphilly and Milwaukee

Don’t know much about him but hope he is the right guy. Need to see more effort from everybody not named Brandon Miller. That includes these bullshit nothing burger injuries that guys are just using as excuses to sit on their couches. I was not on board with trading Lamelo before this past season, or drafting Scoot because I felt Lamelo was a guy to build around still. But at a certain point you have to actually play games. Sick of seeing Lamelo selling shoes when I look up Hornets news while he ain’t at games. I’m just getting the feeling he doesn’t care that much about basketball anymore. When he is on the court, he’s still close to the same player that we got as a rookie. His game has improved bits in some areas, but he isn’t coming close to the ceiling I thought he had. He still commits too many turnovers. His shooting percentages are all basically the same. Look at him compared to the improvements other guys from his class have made like Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton. Very frustrating with all the promise he showed early on.

LaMelo is 22 years old.  He’s younger than Zion, Malik Monk, SGA, etc.  Hold on to him.

Unrelated, the Hornets drafted SGA and Kobe Bryant.  WTF.

You absolutely don't trade LaMelo Ball this early. One season minimum with Lee to see what juice he can squeeze out of him with this core intact.

That being said I definitely need to see LaMelo not only get healthy and stay healthy (he's played less games than Gordon Hayward the last few seasons). But I also need him to mature and step forward as a LEADER. The clownery of yucking it up on the bench with James Bouknight while we were getting our asses handed to us soured me and I have been a big defender of LaMelo. When we first drafted him Scott Fowler put out that stupid hit piece and then got embarrassed for his take. Some of what we've seen from LaMelo as the face of the franchise and a Supermax player only lends credence to the takes like that from Fowler. That's a real bummer. He must take accountability and show that he is committed to basketball. Our new coach and GM need to make it clear expectations are no longer just showing up. We will see.

You do if you get a good enough offer. But I also don't see him as a franchise player.

Well that's the problem. What's "good enough" at this juncture?

Have we not learned anything from our Carolina Panthers in this area?

I don't see us getting a proper return value right now with the rest of the NBA knowing our predicament. Look at what the Pelicans have dealt with in relation to Zion. The best path is to revisit this next year where there is a high probability his value will increase with improvement under Charles Lee. The biggest variable is the question of how much he will actually play. We just have to wait and see.

I know one thing. The NBA better give us minimum another top 3 pick.
