Rhule had good drafts?

We haven’t had a “good” draft since 2017, but Rhule didn’t completely fug up a draft and put us multiple years behind with a single trade and incorrect QB.

Anyway, I was making that point because that guy was basically trying to act like 2023 was going to be a great draft because we were making moves without Rhule. Oops!

This was only posted in this thread because @CRAwas wanting a Matt Rhule GIF.

But yeah Fitt sucked as well, I think everyone agrees on that at this point.

the Matt Rhule shrug gif is the best thing any actual Panther HC(I don't include interims) has done for us since Ron was fired.  And now I can't find one that is huddle compatible

I think you are missing my point. I know why you posted that. I was laughing at Goaty_Szn throwing shade on Rhule in March of 2023 as if we were making great moves. In reality, we made enough moves to be the worst team in the league and make us long for the Rhule, Marty and Teddy.

I think the most competitive team we have fielded in the Tepper era....was actually the Matt Rhule/Teddy Panthers.   Most would I think would say Steve Wilks...but reality is Wilks was limited to only playing 1970s era ball against bad teams.   They were matchup specific in terms of being competitive.

That 2020 couldn't close the deal but they were pretty competitive all season long and was the best offense in the Tepper era.   And that featured a green OC who didn't even drill redzone and a checkdown QB.

It’s also his most recent team. The further away we got from the Ron years, the worse we became.

Yeah the 2020 team lost 8 games by a touchdown or less. They were even somewhat competitive in early 2021.  After the Washington game loss during Cam's homecoming the Rhule era collapsed.

I think the biggest issue for David Tepper.....is his best offensive draft pick to date.....is an average, RB by committee caliber RB.  As in, he is backup RB in the NFL.

If that's your best offensive draft pick in a half decade.....your team is going to fail.

I would say Brady Christensen is actually our best offensive pick, which is almost as sad.

    • MORGAN ON PLAY CALLER FOR CANALES   "I think that's really his [Canales'] call," he stated. "I think if he wants to promote somebody into being the play-caller or bring somebody from the outside. We haven't really talked about that. But that is something that I'm sure we'll talk about. We talk about every decision together. If he feels like he needs to add somebody or promote somebody into being the play-caller, then I trust him."
    • Dude, he cannot see the field, when his feet are not set he throws ducks.   What the fug are you watching?
    • I'm looking at the final drive, and that's where I'm laying the blame at Bryce's feet. Stepping up to the line, 38 seconds left, 3 time outs on the clock. 30 yards needed to attempt a FG. It's not Bryce's job to call the plays, that's DC's and it was terrible play calling.  It's Bryce's job to read what the defense is giving him at the line. The middle of the field is open. Rams are guarding against the deep ball and bringing pressure leaving the middle of the field ripe for the taking. Knowing his line not holding up for long, Bryce should have read the defense, called the audible, and thrown to the middle of the field for 6- 8 yards, like you said, quick slants would have worked. Then run either hurry up or call a TO. We had time. He has to make the adjustments. Any QB has to make the adjustments.  The pass Horn dropped hit his hands but was at his knees. Should he have slid and caught it? Probably. Was the pass a good one? No it wasn't. Both players were at fault, not just Horn. Let's not pretend that Bryce threw a beautiful pass that hit the receiver chest high right in the hands in perfect stride because that damn sure wasn't the throw.  The defense didn't choke away a lead. They never had a real lead. Choking away a lead is being up by multiple scores late in the 4th and losing. We were up by 4 and handed the ball back to a potential MVP with an All pro WR and potential future HoF WR2. One score games in the 4th are a slug fest. 28-3. That's choking away a lead.  I don't solely blame Bryce for the game, but you seem to solely blame the defense for the game because they went to prevent after losing Horn. You are forgetting the short field that the offense left them that led to the early Puka TD on one of our 2 failed 4th down conversions. Our defense has been given very limited resources over the past 3 years while we have tried to put everything possible around Bryce. We added a little bit to the D this year after giving up a NFL record in points last year. Our defense overachieved based on what they've been given to work with.
